STATE TALENT IDENTIFICATION CONDUCTED IN JOWAI

The Meghalaya State Olympic Association and Department of Sport and Youth Affairs in collaboration with the Edge 10 Group conducted the State Talent Identification 2022 for West Jaintia Hills District at Kiang Nangbah Indoor Stadium, Ladthadlaboh, Jowai supervised by Ian Cambell, the Australian Olympian and Alistar Tail, International Global Coach.

About 281 children from 10 schools both boys and girls and children from grassroot Jowai centre participated in todays event comprising 20 M Sprint, 10 M ladder run, Compass Drill and the vertical jump.

Ian Cambell expressed his gratitude to the working president Meghalaya State Olympic Government, Government of Meghalaya Shri. John F Kharshiing and to District Sports Officer, West Jaintia Hills for making the day possible.and extend his best wishes to the participants.

HEALTH CAMP CUM AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON NALSA SCHEME AND GOVERNMENT WELFARE SCHEMES AT PYNTHOR VILLAG

The Meghalaya State Legal Service Authority, Shillong in collaboration with the Departments of Social Welfare, Health & Family Welfare DHS,MI Community and Rural Development Government of Meghalaya and District Legal Service Authority, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh organized a one day Health Camp cum Awareness Programme on NALSA Scheme and Government Welfare Schemes under the Theme Bridging the Gap at Pynthor Village, Ri Bhoi District today the 23rd July in the august presence of Hon’ble Judge of High Court of Meghalaya cum Executive Chairman, MSLSA, Shillong Shri Justice H.S Thankhiew who grace the accasion as the chief guest, Shri B.Joshi, MHJS, District & Session Judge cum Chairman DLSA, Nongpoh, Smti. H.C Lyndem, Director, DHS,MI, Shri E.Kharmalki MCS, Secretary Social Welfare Department, Shri L.Lyngdoh, Asst. Director Social Welfare Dept, Smt. N.I Dkhar, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary DLSA, Nongpoh, Dr. C.Warjri, BDO Bhoirymbong C and RD Block, Smt. M.Syiemlieh DM and HO, Smt. E Kharshandi District Social Welfare Officer and others.

The health camp cum awareness programme were also attended by government officials and staffs from different line departments, doctors & nurses, village elders, school children and local populace from four villages includes Pynthor, Mynsain, Lum Syntung and Umden umbathiang village. Many different stalls have been set up and displayed in the event by different line departments such as Health, Election, Education, Fishery, AH and Vety, One Stop Centre, Common Service Centre, Agriculture, ICDS, Banks, DCIC, Police Department, SHGs etc.

Shri L.Lyngdoh, Asst. Director, Social Welfare while delivering his speech as one of Resource person spoke on child welfare schemes, juvenile justice Act, drug abuse, child marriage etc. Whereas Smt. Dr Blah, Addl.DM and HO lectured on various schemes implemented by the government through health department for the welfare of pregnant women such as JSY Scheme, JSSK, PMMVY, PMASA, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, National Leprosy Elimination Programme, MHIS or PMJAY etc.

Smti. A.Shongwan, Legal Aids Counsel DLSA spoke on various NALSA Schemes with special reference to NALSA scheme 2015. She detailed that NALSA scheme aims to provide free and competent legal services to all weaker sections of the society and ensure that opportunities for securing justice and rights and also others such as any assistance need for disabled children or senior citizens, girl victim, addicted person on drug/alcoholic etc. Dr C.Warjri, BDO delivered his speech on various welfare schemes of the government such as MGNREGA, NRLM, NSAP and others

Justice H.S Thankhiew in his speech at the gathering lauded the initiatives taken by various departments of government in taking part along with the MSLSA for conducting the event, he said that such event enlightens people about various benefited schemes granted by the government through various line departments as well as about legal aids scheme provided by NALSA. He also elaborated that such event bridging the gap between residents and the government. Hence, he encourage people to come forward and interact with officials for their benefits. Moreover, stated that NALSA aims to provide helps to the needy and to provide free services to people particularly those who are from poor family. He also informed that DLSA has been setup in each and every districts of the state as well as Para Legal Volunteer in every villages and also Legal Aids Centre in different locations of the district to ensure legal services closer to the people. Therefore, it is the duty of the residents to come and avail the opportunity provided to them for their rights and justice and meanwhile encourage them to publicize the availability of such scheme to their friends and neighbors.
