CENTRAL TEAM VISITS SWGH, INSPECTS JSA PROJECTS

A two member Central team of officials on Jal Shakti Abhiyan Catch the Rain 2022, including Ms. Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, GoI and V.K. Shukla, Scientist C Central Water and Power Research Station, Pune, was on a two day visit to South West Garo Hills district for site inspection of JSA projects under the district on Friday and Saturday.

Before leaving for field inspection, the team made a stopover at Ampati Circuit House, where they were received by South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner in charge, A.V.D. Shira and officials of the line departments. They also had a brief interaction with the district officials on the purpose of their visit. They also noted that presence of a number of water bodies, both natural and man made and a good landscape, which gave a lot of advantage that would help in water conservation works in the district. They urged upon all the departments to work as a team by leveraging on the rich resources available and tie up with Fishery Department to promote pisciculture.

Expressing her contentment over consistency in contribution of shares from Government of Meghalaya for developmental works, Epao stated that she is happy with the departmental works that are being taken up in the district by successfully implementing the schemes that are benefitting the people and serving its purpose.

Epao, during her visit, also interacted with the beneficiaries of Chimite, Nogorpara and Kumligaon villages and advised them to take help from the Ministry of MSME and the line departments to promote tourism around their water bodies.

Encouraging the line departments to continue putting up with the good work, Shukla, during their site visit, provided scientific suggestions and technical insights on his field of expertise.

PM PRAISES MEGHALAYA FOR AMRIT MAHOTSAV CELEBRATIONS IN STATE

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today appreciated the efforts of Meghalaya to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and recalled the valor of the State brave warrior U Tirot Singh during his 91st episode of Mann Ki Baat. He expressed happiness in the way the Amrit Mahotsav took the form of mass movement across the country. Lauding the citizens for embracing the Mahotsav to mark the 75th year of India independence, the PM said, One such event took place in Meghalaya earlier this month. People remembered the brave warrior of Meghalaya U. Tirot Singh on his death anniversary. Tirot Singh ji fiercely opposed the British conspiracy to control the Khasi Hills and destroy the culture there. Many artists gave beautiful performances in this program. They made history come alive. A carnival was also organized as part of the event, in which the great culture of Meghalaya was depicted in a beautiful manner.

The PM offered his tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh and all other great revolutionaries who sacrificed their all for the country. Friends, on the 31st of July i.e. today, all of us countrymen salute the martyrdom of Shaheed Udham Singh ji, he stated.

Todays episode of the show was on the lines of India’s independence. He said, We are all going to be witness to a splendid and historic moment, had we been born in the era of slavery, then how would have we imagined this day That yearning of freedom from slavery, the desperation for freedom from the shackles of subjugation how formidable it must have been Those days, when, every single day, we would be seeing millions of countrymen fighting, battling, making sacrifices for the sake of freedom.

The 91st episode of Mann Ki Baat was aired days ahead of Independence Day. This time Mann Ki Baat is very special. The reason for this is Independence Day this time, when India will complete 75 years of her independence, shared the PM.
