LOOK OUT NOTICE FOR WANTED ACCUSED

Shillong, July 4th, 20011: The Superintendent of Police, South Garo Hills, Baghmara has informed that Shri Deepak Chetri and Shri Komal Porel whose photographs could not be obtained are wanted in connection with Baghmara P.S. case and requested any person who have knowledge of these two wanted persons may kindly inform to the Baghmara Police Station contact NO. 036339- 234222. The identity of the informer will be kept strictly confidential.

Shillong, July 4th, 2011: The Deputy Commissioner Supply, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that the Price of Domestic Cylinder 14.2 Kg has been fixed for home delivery at the rate of Rs. 424.00 per LPG Domestic Cylinder in the retail Selling price of LPG Cylinders by the IOC, all LPG consumers for Greater Shillong Areas.

Any overcharging of the above price any of the Distributors and Agencies should be brought to the undersigned by giving full details and Particulars.

DISTRICT SELECTION COMMITTEE

Shillong, July 4th 2011: The Member Secretary, District Selection Committee, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that candidates who have applied for the post of Gram Sevak, Gram Sevika, Forester-1 and Fishery Demonstrator in the District Selection Committee, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh should furnish the following documents to the office of the District Selection Committee, Ri Bhoi Ditrict on or before 15th July 2011.

Shillong, July 4th 2011: The Urban Affairs Department has notified that the conduct of election to the Municipality of Resubelpara will be held on 13th August, 2011 as per the programme. Date of publication of Draft Electoral Rolls 4.7.2011, last date for filling of claims and objections 11.7.2011, last date for disposal of claims and objections 18.7.2011, final publication of electoral rolls 22.7.2011, first date of filling of nominations 22.7.2011 from 11 am onwards, last date of filling of nominations 27.7.2011 upto 3 pm, date of scrutiny of nominations papers 28.7.2011 from 10 am to 4 pm, date of publication of validly nominated candidates 28.7.2011 after 4 pm, last date of withdrawal of candidature 3.8.2011 till 3 pm, date of allotment of symbols 3.8.2011 after 3 pm, date of publication of list of contesting candidates 3.8.2011, last date of campaigning 11.8.2011 upto 4 pm, date of polling 13.8.2011 from 8 am to 4 pm, date of re-poll, if any 16.8.2011, date of counting of votes 17.8.2011.

PAINTING COMPETITION HELD

Shillong, July 6, 2011: The Two Day Painting Competition for differently abled Students organized by the Department of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya came to a close today at the prize distribution function held at Arts and Culture Hall, Shillong.

The function was graced by Mr. B. M. Lanong, Deputy Chief Minister as the chief guest in the presence of Mr. H. Marwein, Principal Secretary, Arts and Culture, Mr. Som Kamei, Director, NEZCC, Mrs. D. Syiem, Director Arts and Culture, students, teachers and the general public.

The painting competition was sponsored by the North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur under the Umang Scheme. The main objective of this scheme is to provide a platform for the physically challenged students to excel in any art form.

91 students drawn from Dwar Jingkyrmen School for Children in need of Special Education, School and Centre for Hearing and Handicapped Children, Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre, Roilang Vocational Training Centre for the disabled, Lariti Traditional Training Cum Production Centre, Asha School and Mary Rice Centre for Special Education participated in the painting competition.

The prizes to the participants and winners in the category of Mentally Retarded, Physically Impaired and Hearing Impaired both in the junior and senior level were given away by the Deputy Chief Minister, Principal Secretary Arts and Culture and Director NEZCC.

REJOINDER

Shillong, July 4, 2011: The attention of the State Government is drawn to a news item published in the Shillong Times dated July 4th 2011 under the Caption Cabinet was in dark about tax revision, it is hereby clarified that the proposals contained in the recommendation of the Task Force on Resource Mobilisation, including the proposal to revise the rate of Motor Vehicle tax, were placed before the Cabinet under agenda item No. 12/2011 in the Cabinet meeting held on the 10th Feb, 2011 at 2 P.M. and duly approved by the Cabinet. Thereafter, Transport Department vide Notification No. TPT.5.2011.8, dt. 28.03.2011 issued a notice inviting objections/suggestion from all concerned state holder against the new proposed rates indicated in Part I and Part II of the Schedule after expiry of 15 days from the date of publication of the aforesaid Notification. Subsequently, after taking into consideration all suggestion objection and having disposed of the same, the final Notification No. TPT. 5.2011.25, was issued on June 1st, 2011.

It is therefore hereby clarified that the allegation that the Cabinet was kept in dark about the revision of Motor Vehicle tax is without any basis and designed to mislead the public on a matter of public importance. It is also further clarified that the recommendation of the Task Force on additional resource Mobilization were duly examined by Law, Finance and Transport Department prior to obtaining the approval of the Cabinet.
