WEATHER ADVISORY

As per Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), weather forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in the State on 11th and 12th July, 2019 and heavy to heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls likely to occur on the 10th and 13th July, 2019. Therefore, the Additional Deputy Commissioner & CEO DDMA, East Khasi Hills District has issued advisory for the information of the public. People are advised to take extra care during heavy rainfall as there is likelihood of flash flood, especially in areas near the rivers and streams and they are not to go near the waters or walk through moving water and to stay away from streams, drains, culverts, etc. People are advised not to drive through flooded areas and to stay away from electric poles or power lines to avoid electrocution. Students are advised not to cross rivers and streams during heavy rain and tourists visiting the tourist spots should not venture into streams, rivers and waterfalls.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ROAD

As laying of Bituminous Macadam (BM) is going on from PWD Road to Diengpasoh opposite Home Guard passing near the gate of NIFT Campus upto PWD Road to Umsawli at Mawdiangdiang, Shillong, the road is temporarily closed for all types of vehicles w.e.f 09-07-2019 till further orders. This was informed by the Managing Director, Meghalaya Government Construction Corporation Limited.

PUBLIC NOTICE

It has been reported time and again that indiscriminate dumping of garbage/domestic waste is taken place by the road side, along the National Highway, service road and other roads/ places within Ri Bhoi District. This is for information of the general public that throwing/dumping of waste is not allowed on the road side but only in the dustbin provided by the Nongpoh Town Committee or their concern villages. The concerned authorities are to check that all dumping waste are cleared and clean on time to avoid any unwanted air pollution which may cause health hazard to the public that resides in those areas and the commuters as well.

MOTIVATIONAL PROGRAMME ON COOPERATIVES HELD.

A one day Awareness cum Motivational Programme on Cooperatives was conducted by the office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies West Khasi Hills on July 9, 2019 at L.B.I. Center Mawkhlam-Nongpyndeng, Nongstoin where Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri.P.D.Sangma was the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Shri.Sangma said that cooperative societies play an important role in eradicating poverty and unemployment thus, improving the economic condition of the people. He urged villagers and farmers to form societies because successful societies can give employment and also generate employment to local residents. Others who spoke on the occasion were Shri.W.Nonglang, Branch Manager MCAB Nongstoin Branch, Dr.W. Hoojon District AH & Vety. Officer Nongstoin, Shri. J.C.Paul Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies, Nongstoin and Smt.J.Tariang.
