COMMITTEES ON E-GOVERNANCE CONSTITUTED

The Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Information Technology Department has informed that the Government has constituted three different Committees for the State e-Governance Program (SeGP) in the State. The three Committees are the Program Steering Council for SeGP, the SeGP Apex Committee and the State e-Governance Mission Team (SeMT).

The members of the Program Steering Council for the State e-Governance Program includes the Chief Minister as its Chairman, the Deputy Chief Minister/ Minister in charge, Information Technology Department, the Deputy Chief Minister/Minister in charge, Finance Department, the Minister in charge, Planning, the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary/Commissioner & Secretary IT Department as its members and the Secretary, Information Technology Department as its Convener. The Committee’s major function is to provide overall vision, broad policy direction and guidance to the SeGP. The Committee will also review the progress under the SeGP.

The members of the SeGP Apex Committee includes the Chief Secretary as the Chairman, the Principal Secretary/Commissioner & Secretary, Finance, Principal Secretary/ Commissioner & Secretary, Planning, Principal Secretary/Commissioner & Secretary, Personnel A.R, Principal Secretary/Commissioner & Secretary, IT and the State Information Officer, National Informatic Centre, Meghalaya State Unit as its members and the Secretary, Information Technology as its Member Convener. The Committee will also have invitees from the representatives of Departments taking up e-governance projects under SeGP. The functions of the Committee is to provide strategy direction to the SeGP in line with the objectives determined by the Program Steering Council, to oversee and monitor the implementation of progress under SeGP, to ensure inter-departmental coordination and to issue directions to any Department on matters relating to IT standards, inter operability, technologies, security and support or shared infrastructure.

The members of the State e-Governance Mission Team includes the Principal Secretary/Commissioner & Secretary, Information Technology as its Chairman and the OSD/ Special Officer IT as its member, the invitees and the Secretary, Information Technology as its Member Convener. The functions of the team is to support the Program Steering Council and the SeGP Apex Committee, to advise various departments in undertaking e-Governance projects, to carry out program management of e-governance initiatives in the state and to resolve and advice on any technical, architectural, support, inter dependency, standards, security, core support or shared infrastructure issues.

WORKSHOP-CUM-TRAINING PROGRAMME ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE

In an attempt to hold meaningful and constructive programmes for the betterment of the State which is considered to have potential for developing trade with SAARC and South East Asian countries, the CAPEXIL (Formerly Chemicals & Allied Products Export Promotion Council) North East Chapter, will organise a 5-day Workshop-cum-Training Programme on International Trade in Meghalaya from August 8-12, 2005 at Hotel Pinewood, Shillong. Sponsored by North Eastern Council, Shillong, the aim and objective of the programme is to create awareness among students, existing exporters and entrepreneurs on the export marketing procedures, documentation and the benefits and incentives available from the State and Central Governments.

The workshop will focus on Fundamentals of Marketing, Identification of Foreign markets, Export Procedures and Documentation, Exim Policy, Licensing, Export Finance/ Forex Management, RBI Regulations on Export, Pricing/Shipping/Packaging/Advertising, Quality Management/WTO, ECGC/Customs, E-Commerce/Internet etc.

ARMY RECRUITEMENT FOR THE POST OF HAVILDAR

The Director Army Recruiting Office, Shillong will screen candidates hailing from the northeastern region for enrolment as Havildar Education in the Army. The screening will take place at the HQ Recruiting Zone Shillong on September 26, 2005.

Candidates should be between 20 and 25 years of age as on March 14, 2006 and must have passed BA, B.Ed/MA, B.Ed/M.SC, B.Ed from a recognized University. Interested candidates may sent their application duly completed in all respect alongwith all certificates and mark sheets, 5 number of recent passport size photographs and other necessary documents to HQ Recruiting Zone, Shillong on or before August 23, 2005.

Candidates who are found fit at the initial screening will have to appear for the written examination on November 20, next. For more details, candidates may approach HQ Recruiting Zone, Shillong.
