NOTICE

The Commissioner of Transport, Meghalaya, Shillong has directed all vehicle owners to strictly adhere to Section 52 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 which deals with alteration of vehicles, prohibiting the fitment of Air Horns, LED Lights, Crash Guards, Bull Bars, etc. as well as non-fitment of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). Vehicle owners/drivers found violating the above provisions will have the said fitments confiscated and/or fine will be compounded against them according to relevant Sections of the Act. Vehicle documents such as Certificate of Registration, Insurance Papers, Pollution under Control certificate (for private vehicles) and Transport Permit, update of Road Tax and Meghalaya Passengers and Goods Taxation (MPGT) (for commercial vehicles) are required to be present in the vehicle at all times failing which penalty will be imposed upon them accordingly.
