WEBPAGE OF THE INDUSTRIES DEPARTMENT LAUNCHED

The Industries Department has launched the Webpage for Review of the State Industrial Policy, 1997 on August 24, 2007 at the Conference Hall of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Shillong. The main objective of launching the webpage is to enable the Industries Department to come out with a New State Industrial Policy which will provide a comprehensive framework in facilitating first generation entrepreneurs in the field of industries, service sector, tourism sector, etc. and making Meghalaya pro-people, investor’s friendly, for ensuring rapid and sustainable Industries development in the State.

Entrepreneurs, NGOs, Stake Holders and the general public can log in to www.megindustry.gov.in to submit their suggestions and recommendations within September 30, 2007.

STATE LEVEL STEERING COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED

The Government of Meghalaya has constituted a State Level Steering Committee for implementation of the UNDP Project on “Capacity Building for Access to Information”, with Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) as the State implementing agency.

The Committee will be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary i/c Personnel Department as the Chairman, Director MATI and Officer on Special Duty Personnel & I&PR Department as Members, Deputy Director MATI as Member Secretary and Public Information Officers, Personnel & AR (A) & (B) Department as Members.

RENEWABLE ENERGY DAY OBSERVED

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi, the office of the Project Officer Integrated Renewable Energy Planning Programme, Nongstoin in collaboration with the District Administration observed the Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas on August 24, 2007 at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nongstoin. The Chief Guest on the occasion was the Executive Member, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Mr. Stormding Thongni. The meeting was attended among others by the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills, Mr. F. Kharlyngdoh, Additional District Magistrates, Mr. W. Nongsiej and Mr. R. S. Sangma and officers of different Departments.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Thongni said that the State Government is committed to encourage energy efficient technology to improve one’s living condition through appropriate use of the available resources. He therefore urged upon the people to avail these benefits granted by the Government. He also asked the community leaders to remain vigilant and thwart any attempt made by anti social elements to destroy our vast natural resources for their larger personal gain.

To mark the occasion, students took out procession from their respective schools to the DC’s office premises carrying placards and slogans urging the people to preserve and protect nature and to use energy judiciously.

The Deputy Commissioner, who also spoke on the occasion, said that to achieve a balanced society, people’s participation is important. He therefore asked the students community to enrich the name of the State through their intellectual pursuit.

Earlier, an Open Marathon was flagged off from Iew Nongstoin following the route via Siejlieh, Nongpyndeng and culminating at the DC’s office premises.

Mr. Thongni also distributed prizes and certificates to the winners of different competitions held earlier.

DADENGGRE POLICE OUT POST UPGRADED TO POLICE STATION

With a view to provide public all the convenience and better administration, the Government of Meghalaya has upgraded Dadenggre Out Post to a Police Station at Dadenggre, West Garo Hills District. The areas coming under the jurisdiction of Daddenggre Police Station shall cease to be under the Phulbari Police Station.

This was informed by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya Home (Police) Department.

DISTRIBUTION OF LEVY SUGAR

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed the public consumers of Greater Shillong that Levy Sugar for the month of August, 2007 has been released and will be distributed through Fair Price Shops at a scale of 500 gms per head per month at the rate of Rs. 13.50 per Kgs.

Any non-supply or overcharging of the rate by the suppliers should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong with full details.
