SPECIAL SUMMARY REVISION

Shillong, September 10, 2012: The Deputy Commissioner (EL), West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin has informed that the Special Summary Revision with reference to 01.01.2013 as the qualifying date for the electoral rolls for the 32- Nongstoin, 33 –Rambrai and the 34 – Mawshynrut will be taken up from 1st October, 2012 onwards.

The schedule for draft publication of rolls will be on 1st October 2012, periods for filling of claims and objections from 1st October 2012 to 31st October 2012, reading of relevant parts/ section of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha/Local Bodies and RWA meetings etc and verification of names on 7th, 14th and 21st October 2012.

Special Campaign Dates with Booth Level Agents of Political Parties for receiving Claims and Objections will held be on 6th and 9th October, 2012, Disposal of Claims and Objections on 1st December 2012, updating the database, merging of photographs, updating the control tables and preparation and printing of supplementary list will be from 1st December, 2012 to 31 December 2012 and Final Publication of Electoral Rolls will be on 5th January 2013.

HINDI DAY TO BE HELD

Shillong, September 10, 2012: The Meghalaya Hindi Prachar Parishad (MHPP) will be observing Hindi Day on 14th September, 2012 at Rup Rekha Secondary School, Shillong. A souvenir named Deep Sikha will be released on this occasion and four prominent personalities of Meghalaya from various fields will also be felicitated.

Shillong Darpan, the first Hindi Newspaper of Meghalaya will also celebrate its 8 years of its publication on the same venue.

CARMEL ATTARD YOUTH CENTRE INAUGURATED AT MARBISU

Shillong, September 10, 2012: Meghalaya Minister for Social Welfare etc., Mr. J. A. Lyngdoh inaugurated the Carmel Attard Youth Centre at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School premises, Marbisu on September 8, 2012 in the presence of local MDC Mr.L.Blah, Fr.Pascal Lyngdoh, Parish Priest, Marbisu amongst others.

The local MLA Mr. J. A. Lyngdoh contributed `10 lakhs to the Youth Centre from his MLA scheme 2009-2010.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lyngdoh said that the long awaited dream of the youth of the Marbisu and its surrounding areas has been fulfilled by the inauguration of the Carmel Attard Youth Centre. He informed that besides sports and games activities, different vocational classes like music, computer, typing, tailoring, embroidery, wiring, electronics and motor mechanic will be imparted to the youth in the center.

Mr. Lyngdoh hoped that the inauguration of the centre would be of immense benefit to the unemployed youth and transform the rural economy through vocational training programs conducted in the centre.

Mr. Lyngdoh also stated that this kind of project is the need of the hour to solve the problem of unemployment and minimize the unproductiveness of the youth. Mr. Lyngdoh also assured to extend all possible help and support to the centre in its endeavour to serve the society in general and the youth in particular.

Later in the day Mr. lyngdoh unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the Carmel Attard Youth Centre.
