PLANS AHEAD FOR A CLEAN AND GREEN SHILLONG

Concerned with the problem of unauthorized and indiscriminate dumping of garbage in public places, in Shillong, resulting in lack of hygiene, health threats and critical pollution of the city environment including streams, the State Government proposed to lunch an Intensive Campaign to Clean up Shillong, on mission mode basis.

With a view to draw up an action plan for the proposed Intensive Campaign To Clean Up Shillong based upon suggestions obtained from all concerned authorities, the Chief Secretary, Meghalaya proposes to hold a broad based discussion with the representatives of the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong, concerned NGO’s, other organizations and authorities, the representatives of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and the Syiem of Mylliem and connected Officials at 11.00 AM on Wednesday the 28th September 2005, in the Conference Room of the Meghalaya Secretariat.

In order to prepare an Draft Action Plan, for discussion at the proposed Meeting, suggestions are hereby invited from Rangbah Shnong, NGOs, Other Organization and Authorities, Individuals and Association, so as to reach the Director, Urban Affairs Department, Meghalaya, Raitong Building, Shillong (Fax No. 0364 2210037) within 3.00 p.m on Tuesday the 22nd September 2005.

IDENTITY CARD FOR EX-SERVICEMEN

The Director, Sainik Welfare Board has informed that all ex-servicemen and widows of ex-servicemen of the State that they should possess identity cards issued on registration by the Office of the Zila Sainik Welfare, Shillong. Other identity cards issued by ex-servicemen leagues/unions/associations will be considered invalid and hence would not be entitled to any benefits and concessions extended to ex-servicemen and widows by the Central and State Government.
