DRAFT PHOTO ELECTORAL ROLL

Shillong, January 12, 2011: The list of amendments to the draft Photo Electoral Rolls for 32-nongstoin (ST) Assembly constituency, 33-Rambrai Jyrngam (ST) Assembly constituency and 34- Mawshynrut (ST) Assembly constituency have been prepared with reference to January 1, 2011 as the qualifying date and in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules 1960.

A copy of the said lists of amendments has been published and will be available for inspection at the office the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills.

CHIEF MINISTER CONVENE MEETING TO DISCUSS MCCL STATUS

Shillong, January 12, 2011: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma today convened a meeting with the senior Government officials of the Finance, Planning, Commerce & Industries Departments along with officials of the MCCL to discuss its overall status.

After taking a detailed stock of both the existing plant as well as the expansion project, the Chief Minister insisted that the expansion project should be completed at the earliest for which he has assured all financial support.

In an earlier decision taken by the Chief Minister, the IIM Shillong has been entrusted to study and prepare a report for gauging the actual problem ailing the plant and taking remedial steps for streamlining and strengthening the infrastructure of the MCCL. The report is expected soon. In the meantime, MCCL has been asked to prepare a physical project chart showing achievements to compliment the expenditures incurred so far for the expansion project of the plant and also to come up with suggestions for adopting cost effective measures for its overall self sustenance.

The Planning Department has been asked to set up a committee for monitoring the progress of the expansion work on a regular basis for its early completion.
