UNION HEALTH MINISTER LAID A FOUNDATION STONE FOR CCB AND IPHL PROJECT

The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today virtually dedicated to the nation a new campus of NIPER Guwahati and laid the foundation stone of NIPER Hyderabad and NIPER Raebareli. The Union Minister virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various healthcare infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.

The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, Dr Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh inaugurated the Integrated Public Health Laboratory (IPHL) under PM-ABHIM at Pasteur Institute, Shillong. Under the PM-ABHIM (FY 2021-2026), the Health Minister also dedicated the identified locations of Critical Care Block (CCB) and Integrated Public Health Laboratory (IPHL) to be built in the seven Districts of the state of Meghalaya.

Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, and Union Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Bhagwanth Khuba also virtually addressed the programme.

INAUGURATION OF RAJ BHAWAN TURA

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma attended the inauguration ceremony of the Raj Bhawan at Tura, West Garo Hills Diatrict. The building was inaugurated by His Excellency Hon’ble Governor Shri Phagu Chauhan in virtual mode on the 12th of January 2024.

In expressing the joy and pride of completion of the project Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma Said, This is a historic moment for the State and specifically in the History of the Garo Hills region. I thank the Hon'ble Governor in his support to make this project possible. To further state the significance of the structure, Sangma said, This governor house is not just a building but a symbol of inclusiveness and show that all the people in the state are one and United. This is another long-standing project that our government was able to successfully complete. The Raj Bhavan stands as a symbol of architectural excellence and civic pride, representing the heart of the citys promising future. It is of great pride that Smti Draupadi Murmu, President of India, would be residing in this complex during her upcoming visit.

The Hon’ble Governor expressed his delight on the construction of the beautiful complex and said that the project was yet another milestone towards enhancing the governance in the Garo Hills region.

The complex, located in the Danakgre area of the Tura town, is built at cost of Rs.24.1 crores and covers an area of 28.45 Acres. The completion of this project is testimony to the government’s efforts towards administrative decentralisation beyond the capital region.

Envisioned as "Assam type" building, the project was initially conceptualised in 2009 at a cost of Rs. 5.48 crores with an aim to be completed within 3 years. The main building was later redesigned to an earthquake-resistant RCC structure and a spacious banquet hall was added. However, in 2016, unforeseen circumstances necessitated revisions of costs and timelines, leading to delay. The project was revived by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma in 2021. Two new works orders expanding the scope of the project were issued with a cost of Rs.10.98 crores and Rs.7.69 crores.

Post this intervention and with constant monitoring, the project was completed in a span of just 3 years. With its grand inauguration, the project is set to become a focal point for official events and ceremonies in the region.

Besides the inauguration of the Raj Bhavan in Tura, the Chief Minister also emphasised that the government is focused on strengthening administrative infrastructure in all regions of the State.
