ELECTIONS TO THE KHADC

In a notification issued recently the Government of Meghalaya has announced the Schedule of dates for the conduct of elections with regard to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.

For the constituencies of 5–Sohryngkham, 6-Dienglieng, 7-Nongkrem, 8-Lyngkyrdem, 9-Nongshken, 11-Mawsynram, 13-Laitkroh, 14-Mylliem, 15-Laban, 16-Nongthymmai, 17-Laitumkhrah-Malki, 18-Mawkhar, 19-Jaiaw, 20-Mawlai, 21-Mawphlang-Diengiei and 22-Nongspung-Sohiong, the last date for filing of Nomination is fixed for 19.01.09 between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM at Deputy Commissioner's Office, East Khasi Hills, District, Shillong, Room No. 301. The date for scrutiny of nomination papers is also 19.01.09. The last date for withdrawal of Nominations is 22.01.09 after 3:00 PM while the date of finalization and publication of valid nomination and allocation of symbol will be taken up at 11:00 AM on 24.0109. The Polling date is fixed for 10.02.09 between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

With regard to 25-Mawkyrwat (ST) and 26-Langrin (ST) District Council Constituencies, nomination papers may be delivered to the concerned Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer at the Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer Civil, Laitlawsang, Mawkyrwat on dates and time as mentioned above.

FINAL PUBLICATION OF ELECTORAL ROLLS

The Electoral Registration Officers of the Assembly Constituencies of 31-Mawthadraishan (ST), 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai-Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) have prepared the final Electoral Rolls with reference to 1.01.09 as qualifying date, and in accordance with the registration of Electoral Rules, 1960, and is available for inspection in the Polling Stations/office of Electoral Registration Officers concerned.
