Press Release No. 19/13 ONE DAY SEMINAR HELD Shillong, January 16, 2013: Meghalaya Building & other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWW) in collaboration with the Regional Labour Institute, Government of India, Kolkata held a one day seminar on occupational safety & health awareness for construction industry today at Conference Hall, Raitong Building, Shillong. The aim of the seminar is to create awareness among the workers regarding health and construction industry. M.S. Rao Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Labour Department & Chairman, MBOCWW said safety aspects is a crucial parameter and it is the responsibility of the Board to give basic information and impute on safety in parts of North-East which is yet to be equipped with safety measures. It is also a social responsibility of the Government to generate awareness on issues regarding health and safety for the benefit of construction workers. Safety awareness should be made paramount and topmost priority as it is about safety of human life, he added. |
Press Release No. 20/13 COMPLAINT MONITORING CELL SET UP AT SOHRA Shillong, January 16, 2013: The Returning Officer, 26-Shella (ST) and 28-Sohra (ST) Assembly Constituencies has informed that any offer of cash, liquor, gift items or free food to the electors during election process is bribe and both the persons, offering and accepting such bribe are liable for punishment with imprisonment up to one year and fine. Flying squads and surveillance teams have been formed to keep watch over such activities during election process. Press Release No. 21/13 NOTICE Shillong, January 16, 2013: The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has informed that one Kamal (35) was found lying in Bara Bazar on 9.1.2013. After admitting him to Civil Hospital, Shillong, the said person expired on the same day. Inquest of the dead body has been done and after observing all the legal formalities, the dead body was forwarded to SDM & HO for holding Post Mortem examination and kept in Civil Hospital Morgue room for identification. Press Release No. 23/13 NATIONAL PULSE POLIO PROGRAMME Shillong, January 16, 2013: The office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills District will conduct the National Pulse Polio Programme, 2013 in the whole District for children under 5 years of age. The programme will be conducted in two rounds. The first round will be held on January 21, 2013 from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM in the arranged booths to be followed by house to house search and coverage activity on January 22-23, 2013. The second round will be held on February 25, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM followed by house to house search on February 26-27, 2013. All parents are requested to take the children to the arranged booth in their respective locality for vaccination. Headmen, NGOs, church leaders, etc are also requested to join hands with the Department for the success of the programme. |
