PUBLICATION OF DRAFT ELECTORAL ROLLS

The Electoral Registration Officers of the Assembly Constituencies of 10-Nongpoh, 8-Mawhati, 9-Umroi and 11-Jirang has informed that the draft Electoral Rolls have been published and are available for inspection at the offices of all the Electoral Registration Officers of the said constituencies during office hours and also in the notified designated locations and Polling Stations.

The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral rolls is January 1, 2005.

If, with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection at the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodged on or before February 12, 2005 in Form 6, 7 or 8 as may be appropriate.

Every such claim or objection should either be presented at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer, Nongpoh, on any working day from 15-1-2005 to 12-2-2005 or at designated location/polling stations to the authorized designated officers appointed by the office.

The Electoral Registration Officers of 33-Pariong (ST), 34-Nongstoin (ST) and the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of 36-Mawthengkut (ST) Assembly Constituencies has informed that the draft Electoral Rolls have been published and are available for inspection at the offices of all the Electoral Registration Officers of the said constituencies during office hours.

GOVERNMENT PROHIBITS EARTH CUTTING

On receiving information that certain private individuals, contractors and lessees under Government land are engaging in earth cutting for the purpose of construction of buildings/walls haphazardly without due permission from the authorities concerned, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District prohibits such activities as they affect the landscape of the area and also disrupts public convenience.

Anyone found violating the above order, will be viewed with serious concern.
