FUTSAL PLAYGROUNDS INAUGURATED AT KHLIEHRIAT

Providing a fillip to sportspersons of Khliehriat town in particular and East Jaintia Hills District in general, Futsal Playgrounds funded under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Fund, East Jaintia Hills District were today inaugurated by Cabinet Minister and Khliehriat MLA, Shri Kyrmen Shylla at Khliehriat West and Khliehriat East villages respectively.

Also attending the inaugural function at Khliehriat West Playground were Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri A. Baranwal, Rymbai Khliehriat MDC, Shri Finelyness Bareh, traditional heads, members of Khliehriat West Sports Club and people of the area.

Delivering his address as Chief Guest of the programme, Cabinet Minister, Shri Kyrmen Shylla congratulated relevant stakeholders of the project including the Deputy Commissioner, local leaders and the contractor for fruition of the project even as he expressed optimism that the facility made available to the public would help hone the talents of aspiring footballers of the district.

Shri Shylla also informed the gathering that in the first phase of the project, 5 Futsal grounds are being constructed, of which 2 of them, namely those at Khliehriat West and Khliehriat East have achieved completion status. During the function, Cabinet Minister, Shri Kyrmen Shylla also announced that Rs. 5 lacs is being earmarked from the MLA Scheme for fencing of the Khliehriat West Football Ground, Khliehriat West.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri A. Baranwal in his address called upon the gathering to make optimum use of the Futsal Playground inaugurated on the day while additionally expressing hope that East Jaintia Hills District continues to produce quality sportspersons particularly footballers who have brought laurels to the district at different levels of competition.

At another programme held at Khliehriat East, a Futsal Ground and a Parking Lot were inaugurated by Cabinet Minister, Shri Kyrmen Shylla in the presence of Sutnga-Saipung MLA, Smti. Santa Mary Shylla, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri A. Baranwal, traditional heads and local residents. During his address at the Khliehriat East Programme, Cabinet Minister and Khliehriat MLA, Shri Kyrmen Shylla dwelt at length on the DMF Fund and expressed hope that the inauguration of the two Futsal Grounds at Khliehriat West and Khliehriat East respectively would stand to benefit budding footballers of East Jaintia Hills District.
