PLUMBING RATES OF THE SHILLONG MUNICIPAL BOARD

The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board has informed that all house owners within the Shillong Municipal Board’s jurisdiction are to pay fees for each plumbing works as per the rates specified by the Board and any plumbing charging rates higher than the specified rates may be brought to the notice of the Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board for necessary action

CENTENARY CELEBRATION OF UMSAWNONGBRI CHURCH CONCLUDED

The year long Centenary Celebration of the Umsawnongbri Presbyterian Church, Ri Bhoi District concluded on December 28, 2005 wherein the Meghalaya Deputy Speaker and local MLA, Mr. P. W. Muktieh was the Chief Guest. The celebration which included many programmes culminated with a football final for both boys and girls in which Nongsangu CE Society defeated Umdohkha CE Society by 1-0 in the girls’ section while Umsawnongbri CE Society beat Nongsangu CE Society by 1-0 in the boys’ section

Exhorting the people especially the youth to start a new life, Mr. Muktieh said that the centenary celebration serves no purpose unless and until people are determined to lead a good, spiritual and social life acceptable to all. He expressed hoped that the year-long celebration has immensely benefit the people and the youth of the area and its adjoining villages

MAWLONG PYLLUN CELEBRATES NEW YEAR

Youth from all localities of Mawlong Pyllun gathered together at the Mawlong Nongthymmai playground, Ri Bhoi District on January 2, 2006 to celebrate the advent of New Year. Organized by the Youth Club of Mawlong Pyllun, the celebration included entertainment programmes like sports and games, singing and dancing competition and beauty contest. The Chief Guest on the occasion was the Meghalaya Deputy Speaker, Mr. P.W. Muktieh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Muktieh lauded the members of the Club for organising such important programme to promote the spirit of unity and brotherhood amongst the youth of the area, which will benefit the society as a whole. He urged upon the members of the club to have a close understanding and cooperation among them and to lead an exemplary life so that they can be role models to other youth. Stating that youth are the pillars of society and that the country depends on them to lead the country towards unity, security and prosperity in the years to come, he stressed on the need to eradicate antisocial activities from the area, which are detrimental to the development and welfare of the people, the society and the country as a whole

SECTION 144 CrPC PROMULGATED

Upon receiving information that some organizations have decided to continue with the road blockade against plying of Tata Sumo under the All Ri Bhoi Transport Association, the District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District, has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC along the Barapani-Umroi-Bhoirymbong road prohibiting assemble of more than 4 (four) persons, carrying of arms or lethal weapons and blocking of Barapani-Umroi-Bhoirymbong road by any person

This order comes into force with immediate effect and remains in force until further orders.
