Press Release No. 57/13 ELECTION NOTICE ISSUED IN WEST GARO HILLS Shillong, January 30, 2013: The Deputy Commissioner (Elections), West Garo Hills has informed all political parties and candidates of various Legislative Assembly constituencies under the district of the dates, time and venue for filing of nomination papers. He informed that the filing of nomination papers can be done between 11am and 3pm on any day other than public holidays not later that 6th February 2013 and added that scrutiny will be done at 11am on 7th February 2013. For 46-Phulbari (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency nomination papers may be submitted to the Returning Officer at Room No. 204 of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office (main building), top floor. Scrutiny will be done in the same room. Press Release No. 58/13 FLYING SQUADS TO KEEP WATCH OVER CASH DISTRIBUTION DURING ELECTIONS Shillong, January 30, 2013: The District Election officer, West Garo Hills, Mr. Pravin Bakshi, has informed the general public that in view of the Model Code of Conduct during elections, distribution of cash, liquor, or any other items for gratification of voters is considered bribery and that both giving and taking bribe is a punishable offence with imprisonment up to one year and a fine. He informed that flying squads and video surveillance teams have been formed and detailed for each Assembly constituency to keep watch over distribution of cash, liquor and other items in the constituencies during elections. He also made an appeal to the general public that anybody carrying huge amount of cash, Rs. 50,000 and above, in any constituency during elections should produce the following documents to show the source and end use of such cash in order to avoid seizure by the flying squads: a PAN card and a copy of the same if any, business registration certificate copy if any, copy of the cash book in case of business involving regular cash transaction and an evidence for end use of the cash, like marriage invitation, hospital admission, etc |
Press Release No. 59/13 ELECTION NOTIFICATION Shillong, January 30, 2013: The Government of Meghalaya has informed through a notification issued under Sub-Section (2) of Section 15 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), published in the Meghalaya Gazette of 30th January, 2013, been pleased to call upon each of the Assembly Constituencies in the State to elect members to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder. According to the notification, the Election Commission of India in pursuance of Sections 30 and 56 of the said Act hereby appoints, with respect to the said election from each Assembly Constituencies, February 6, 2013 as the last date of making nominations, February 7, 2013 as the date for scrutiny of nominations, February 9, 2013 as the last date for withdrawal of candidatures, February 23, 2013 as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary be taken and March 3, 2013 as the date before which the election shall be completed. The Election Commission of India has also fixed the hours from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm as the hours during which the poll shall, if necessary, be taken on the date specified above, for the election. |
Press Release No. 60/13 NOTIFICATION Shillong, January 30, 2012: The Government of Meghalaya has upgraded Nangalbibra Out Post to a Police Station at Nangalbibra in South Garo Hills District and the new police Station will be known as Nangalbibra Police Station. On creation of the Nangalbibra Police Station, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under the Baghmara Police Station. Further, a new Police Out Post has been created at Maheshkhola in South Garo Hills District and it will be known as Maheskhola Police Out Post. On creation of the Maheskhola Police Out Post, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under the Rongara Police Station. A new Police Out Post has also been created at Betasing in South West Garo hills and it will be known as the Betasing Police Out Post. On creation of the Betasing Police Out Post, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under the Ampati Police Station. A new Police Out Post has also been created at Rongsai in West Garo hills and it will be known as the Rongsai Police Out Post. On creation of the Rongsai Police Out Post, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under the Tikrikilla Police Station. A new Police Out Post has also been created at Kherapara in West Garo hills and it will be known as the Kheraparai Police Out Post. On creation of the Kherapara Police Out Post, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under the Dalu Police Station. A new Police Out Post has also been created at Bajengdoba in East Garo hills and it will be known as the Bajengdoba Police Out Post. Press Release No. 64/13 ELECTION NOTICE ISSUED IN EAST KHASI HILLS Shillong, January 30, 2013: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has informed that notice of election in respect of 13-Mawryngkneng (ST), 14-Pynthorumkhrah (GEN), 15-Mawlai (ST), 16-East Shillong (ST), 17-North Shillong (ST), 18-West Shillong (GEN), 19-South Shillong (Gen), 20-Mylliem (ST), 21-Nongthymmai (ST), 22-Nongkrem (ST), 23-Sohiong (ST), 24-Mawphlang (ST), 25-Mawsynram (ST), 27-Pynursla (ST), 29-Mawkynrew (ST) have been issued.
