FIELD LEVEL FINANCIAL AWARENESS EVENT ORGANISED

As part of the financial inclusion agenda of the Reserve Bank of India, a Field Level Financial Awareness Event was organised at Mawlyngbna village, Mawsynram Block, East Khasi Hills District. The programme was inaugurated by General Manager and Officer-in-Charge, RBI, Shillong, Shri Anurag Asthana in the presence of AGM, SBI, Shillong, AGM, NABARD, officials from banks operating in the District, members of the local dorbar and villagers. In his keynote address, Shri Anurag Asthana highlighted the importance of financial literacy and financial inclusion for the benefit of the general public. He also explained on how the functions and activities of RBI directly or indirectly affect the general public and further urged upon the stakeholders including banks and government departments to create awareness and provide the best possible services as the unfilled voids and gaps in regulation or awareness generally breeds frauds. The presentation by officials of RBI, Shillong explained the need for financial planning and budgeting, precaution from fraudulent e-mails, SMS, phone calls and fraudulent companies, grievance redressal mechanism in the banking system, features of genuine currency notes, Kisan Credit Card Scheme, Vidyalakshmi Portal for education loans, Ombudsman Scheme for NBFCs, Sachet Portal, Complaint Management System, Ombudsman Scheme for Digital Transactions, the need for maintaining credit discipline, new developments in the field of digital transactions, namely, UPI, BHIM, USSD etc.

EOI INVITED FOR PILOT PROJECT IN EAST JAINTIA HILLS DISTRICT

The Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of the District Mineral Foundation Trust, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat has informed that an expression of interest is invited by the District Mineral Foundation Trust East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya for pilot project as a proof concept for in-situ treatment/ cleaning/ Bioremediation of polluted / acidic rivers, namely from Ummutha- Lunar Confluence to Lunar- Lukha Confluence, which is approximately 2.5 Km. The technology companies having original research and proven successful work experience for around 15 years related treatment of waste water bodies including acidic industrial effluent, sewage Effluent and Acid Mine Drainage based on Phycoremediation using customized Green Micro Algae Consortia may apply for the project. The company participating in the EOI should either be a technology company or it should carry an exclusive authority from a Technology Company to participate and work in association with Technology Company or under its guidance. Apart from the above criteria, the company should have a thorough understanding of geographical location and its challenges and different types of pollution in these water streams and rivers. Companies having been awarded projects by NGT or any other government agencies in Meghalaya and Northeast will be given preference and should support with documentary projects of such works orders or projects awarded. The companies may apply by giving all necessary details of technology and work experience on or before the 11th February, 2020.
