INAUGURATION OF MURAL PAINTING AT DC OFFICE

Meghalaya's Tourism Minister, Paul Lyngdoh, today inaugurated a stunning mural in the office building of the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills. The artwork, portraying the theme of "Root and Rhythm," was supported by the Indian Foundation and Asian paints in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya.

The mural, a testament to Mario Pathaw's skill and creativity, adds a burst of color and culture to the administrative hub. Minister Paul Lyngdoh expressed his admiration for the artist's work, emphasizing the importance of promoting local talent to enhance the cultural vibrancy of the region.

Lyngdoh said that the mural, was carefully crafted to depict the essence of "Root and Rhythm," captures the spirit of Meghalaya's cultural diversity. The artwork not only serves as an aesthetic addition to the Deputy Commissioner's office but also symbolizes the harmony between tradition and contemporary expression. “What we have done today is encourage the tourists to not only to be mesmerising our natural beauty but also to step into immersive tourism,” he said.

He also said that Meghalaya has so much to offer to the rest of the world, if you think in terms of each of our Waterfalls having stories, the hills, even the sky, and each facet of nature has a rich history. He further said that in 2023 Meghalaya received not less than 15 lakh visitors from across the world, which is an achievement for our state.

As Meghalaya continues to celebrate its cultural richness, initiatives like these reflect a collective effort to preserve and promote the unique artistic heritage of the region.

The unveiling ceremony witnessed the presence of Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, along with various officials and dignitaries. The collaboration between the Indian Foundation and Asian paints and the Meghalaya government underscores a shared commitment to promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of the region.
