MEASLES RUBELLA VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) was launched today at St. Paul’s School premises, Nongpoh by Shri M. B. Syiem, local MLA in the presence of Smti R. M. Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Dr. P. Sharma, Consultant, World Health Organization, Dr. M. Mawrie, DMHO, Smti D. Lakiang, EAC, Fr. B. Pala, Parish Priest, Health workers, teachers and students. Speaking as the Chief Guest, Shri M. B. Syiem appreciated the health department and the district administration for their initiative and efforts in implementing such an important programme for the welfare and health of the children of the district. He sought the cooperation of one and all in order to make the programme a success. Smti R. M. Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Dr. M. Mawrie, DM&HO, Fr. B. Pala and Dr. A.R. Marak, MCH officer also spoke on the occasion.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS OBSERVED

The International Day of Older Persons organized by the office of the District Social Welfare Officer in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Ri Bhoi District was observed today at Duya Community Hall, Diwon, Ri Bhoi wherein Smti R. M. Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District was the Chief Guest. In her speech, Smti Kurbah stressed upon the importance of respecting the elderly as they are the source of love and guidance for the younger generation. She also informed about the old age pension scheme and urged those who are not yet covered under the scheme to approach their respective Block Development Officer and Child Development Project Officer, ICDS. Others who spoke on the occasion were Dr. T. Sangma, M&HO, Shri R. Lapang, Advocate, Smti. B. Rynjah, CDPO, Umling, Smti. W. Nongrum, DSWO.
