Press Release No. 1066/17 COACHES CLINIC INAUGURATED Meghalaya Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, Shri Zenith M. Sangma today inaugurated the Coaches Clinic at Indoor Sports Hall, J.N. Complex, Polo, Shillong. The Coaches Clinic is meant for the training of grassroot coaches who will be manning the grassroot centres under the Mission Football. Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Shri Zenith M. Sangma said that Coaches Clinic is one of the key components of the Mission Football. He also informed that 88 coaches were shortlisted to be given a course in the two-day clinic where they will be sensitized on the basics of training which will help them in training the young football enthusiast who are between the age of 6-12 years. He also said that coaches need to have enough patience while attending to that age group and appealed the coaches to know the mindset and psychology of the trainees to help them in inculcating a positive mindset and strong determination to overcome challenges and help them to move forward with dedication. Director, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Smti M. W. Nongbri in her speech said that the objective of Coaches Clinic is to ensure that players are not only groomed and trained to compete only in the State level competitions but also in the National and International arena. She appealed the coaches who were selected for the programme to take advantage of the clinic to bring out the best from the budding football players. During the programme, the Chief Guest distributed backpacks to the coaches who were shortlisted for the Coaches Clinic. Earlier, Junior Football Coach, East Khasi Hills District, Shri B. L. Nongbet gave a presentation on “Grassroot Football in Meghalaya”. Working President, MSOA, Shri John F. Kharshiing, Deputy Director, Sports & Youth Affairs Deparment, Shri J. R. Marak, DSO, West Jaintia Hills District, Shri H. Shangpliang and Vice President, Meghalaya Football Association, Shri B. Diengdoh were among others present at the function. |
Press Release No. 1070/17 MEMBERS OF SPB IN NONGSTOIN The members of the State Planning Board today visited West Khasi Hills District to review the implementation of State Plan Schemes 2016-17 and 2017-18, in a meeting held at the Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Nongstoin. During the review meeting, the State Planning Board comprising of its Chairman, Shri S. C. Marak, Co-Chairman, Shri Francis P. R. Sangma, Deputy Chairmen, Shri. P. K. Marak, Dr. Manash Das Gupta, Mr. Grithalson Arengh, Dr. Eureka Lyngdoh, local MLA Nongstoin, Shri. D. Jyndiang, Mawshynrut MLA, Shri W. Mawsor also had an interaction with the line Department on pending issue, causes for delaying the implementation and grievances faced for the implementation. The Board had also promised to take-up with the higher authority for successfully implementation of State Plan Scheme in the District for the well being of the people at large. |
Press Release No. 1071/17 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with District Medical & Health Office, East Khasi Hills, Child Development Project Office, Urban ICDS Project, Shillong and Bansara Eye Care Centre, Shillong today celebrated the International Day of Older Persons at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong. The programme was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Shri P S Dkhar as the Chief Guest. In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner said that grandparents and parents bring joy, warmth and security to our homes and families and we cannot forget their contribution to the family and the society. He said that the younger generation needs the guidance and wisdom of grandparents and parents who, through their life experiences, taught us the principles of life. “As we celebrate this day, let us also remember their sacrifices to guarantee that their children have a successful life. Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that older persons can live a life of dignity by giving them the love, care, respect. The Chief Guest also felicitated to the senior most citizen, Shri D Mawrie of Malki Wahkdait and distributed gifts to nine other senior citizens. Earlier in the day, a free medical and eye check-up was conducted to celebrate the day. |
Press Release No. 1072/17 CHIEF MINISTER ATTENDS 1ST NEMA NATIONAL CONFERENCE Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma today attended the Inaugural Session of 1st North Eastern Management Association (NEMA) National Conference organized by NEMA in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) at Conference Hall of USTM at 9th Mile, Ri Bhoi. The two days’ conference is based on the theme, ‘Think Global Act Local: Contemporary Sustainable Business Practices and Development.’ Addressing the gathering during his Inaugural Speech, Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma while congratulating NEMA for organizing the national conference said that the theme that has been set for the conference blends with everybody irrespective of their position or profession as management is an integral part of everyone’s lives and activities. He also said that having the conference in this part of the country will pave way for bigger conferences and attract intellectuals, researchers and academicians to North East. The Chief Minister also said that Management is a crucial part of studies and looking at Management only as a professional course needs to be changed. “Though addressing the issues of globalization is still a challenge if we do not think locally none of our activities will be sustainable therefore the challenges and opportunities of globalization has to be understood and dealt with in the right perspective to ensure that there is no dislocation of our activities which is so crucial to our sustainable development growth,” said Dr Sangma. He added that sustainability of any activity especially farming is important and the people engaged in farming need to be acclimatized to the pulls and pushes of globalization to develop Agriculture as a vibrant sector contributing to the growth and sustainable development of the economy. He also stated that locally available potentials must be leveraged upon which will help to act locally. Earlier, the Chief Minister also released the Conference Souvenir and other books during the Inaugural Session. Chairman cum Managing Director, NEDFi, B P Muktieh gave the Key Note Address while M Hoque, Chancellor, USTM, Prof J U Ahmed, President, NEMA and Prof W C Singh, Secretary, NEMA, were among those who spoke during the occasion. Topics like Inclusive Growth and North Eastern Region, Economics, Finance, Inclusive Growth and Recent Business Practices, Entrepreneurship, innovation, CSR Issues, CSR and Governance Issue s, Tourism, Sustainability & service Sector Growth-Issues and Challenges and Building Sustainable Business Practices in North East will be deliberated upon during the two days’ conference. It may be mentioned here that NEMA which was formed on 21st May 2016 is a non political, non-partisan, voluntary regional management association with national and international perspectives with an aim to undertake, promote, coordinate and collaborate in the study of managerial problems and issues in India with special emphasis on North East India. More than hundred participants and scholars from different parts of North East will participate in the conference along with many experts from the field of management studies. |
