PRADHAN MANTRI BHARTIYA JANAUSHADHI PARIYOJANA

The Government of India is concerned of sale and effective medicines for all at affordable prices without compromising the quality and therapeutic value. To achieve this objective, the Central Government introduced a scheme for ensuring availability of Generic medicines under the name ‘Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). Under this scheme, Generic medicines are made available to the public through retail outlets called PMBJP Kendras. Medicines that are stocked for sale in these Kendras have already been tested at the NABL accredited labs so as to ensure the quality prior to supply. The incentives of Rs. 2.5 lakhs is offered to the operating agencies of both category (A) and (B) besides the State Government will provide free space for category A agencies. The MoU needs to be signed between the State Government, the BPPI (Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India) and the agency of category A and the agency with BPPI for category B agencies. 1ST AQUA PARK INAUGURATED IN SOUTH WEST KHASI HILLS DISTRICT

Meghalaya Fisheries Minister, Shri Comingone Ymbon today inaugurated the 1st Aqua Park at Photjaud-War, South West Khasi Hills District in the presence of Shri R. Lyngdoh Tongkhar, MLA, Mawkyrwat, Shri K. N. Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Kum Isawanda Laloo, Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District, Kum A. L. Mawlong, Director of Fisheries and other distinguished guests. It is to be mentioned that the project was assisted under the Meghalaya State Aquaculture Mission at an estimated cost of 26 lacs. Speaking at the inaugural function as Chief Guest, Shri Ymbon said that this is the first aqua park in the State and said that this project will not only help boost economy but will also promote tourism. He therefore stressed upon the need of sanitation and proper maintenance of this area which would generate income through fish production and employment opportunities through tourism. He hoped that this project will increase fish production in the state. He apprised that about 12 thousand metric tonnes of fish was produced this year whereas the requirement of the state is 27 thousand metric tonnes per annum. He also informed that the Aqua Culture Mission II will be launched soon in the State thereby inspiring fish farmers to avail these opportunities which will enhance production in order to meet the demands and requirements of the people. He stressed upon the need of maintenance of unity and transparency and cooperation which would yield good results in future.

In his speech, Shri R. L. Tongkhar advised the villagers that construction of houses should be avoided in this area as this will not only pollute but will contaminate the water and its beauty. He stressed upon the need of maintenance of hospitality, healthy manners and good etiquettes which will boost tourism in this area. Shri K.N. Kumar in his speech lauded the efforts of everyone involved in this great achievement and the first of its kind in the state which he hoped will not only help yields and increase production but at the same time will help enrich and enhanced the pristine beauty of this place. He said that Meghalaya is not sufficient in fish production as the demand-supply gap is very high and about 15 metric tonnes of fish has to be imported from other States. He therefore advised people to capture the possibilities that are there in aquaculture and be self sufficient. Among others who spoke on the occasion include Kum.
