WRITTEN EXAMINATION TO JAWAHAR NAVODYA VIDYALAYA

The Principal Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya (JNV), East Khasi Hills District, Mawphlang has informed that the Written Examination for Class VI for the session 2007 in JNV, Mawphlang, will be held on April 14, 2007.

The Prospectus Cum Application Forms can be had from the Office of the Inspector of Schools, Mawkhar, Shillong, Block Education Office of every block, Headmaster of nearest Primary School and Principal, JNV, Mawphlang. The completed application forms are to be submitted to the concerned B.E.O. on or before October 31, 2006.

RECRUITMENT IN INDO TIBETAN BORDER POLICE FORCE

Applications are invited from male Indian citizens for the post of Sub- Inspector (General Duty) and Constable (General Duty) Group 'C' against Sports quota in Indo Tibetan Border Police.

Candidates should be between 20 to 25 years of age for the Sub-Inspector (GD) and must have passed Degree from a recognized University and between 18 to 23 years of age for the Constable (GD) and must have passed Matric or 10th Class pass form recognized Board/ National Institute of Open School for Constable (GD). Application form duly competed in all respect will be received at the Inspector General, Zonal HQrs. (UA &HP), ITB Police, Seema Dwar (Indra Nagar), Dehradun (UA) – 248146 latest by December 14, 2006.

Meanwhile, applications are also invited from female Indian citizens for SI (Staff Nurse) HC (ANM) and male for ASI (Pharm)/CT (MED). Candidates should be between 21 to 30 years of age for the SI (Staff Nurse), 20 to 28 years of age for ASI (Pharmacist), 18 to 25 years of age for HC (ANM) and 18 to 23 years of age for CT (Med) as on October 31, 2006. Application form duly competed in all respect will be received at the Director (Medical), Directorate General, ITBP, MHA/Govt. of India, Block-9 a, East Block, R.K.Puram, New Delhi-110066, latest by November 15, 2006.

CULTURAL SHOW AND PLATE DANCE COMPETITION INAUGRATED

As part of the week long ‘Discover Jaintia Hills 2006’ celebration, a cultural show and plate dance competition was organized at the Ialong Park on October 11, 2006. The event which drew encouraging participation from different parts of the District was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Jaintia Hills District, Mr. F.R.Kharkongor.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kharkongor stressed that the main aim of the on-going tourism festival is to draw people attention to the vast tourism potential of Jaintia Hills. While Shillong and Sohra are the discovered tourism jewels of Meghalaya, Jaintia Hills, with its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking sights found in differ parts of the district, is a scintillating place waiting to be discovered, he added. In order to promote and sustain tourism in the District, Mr. Kharkongor reiterated the importance of developing infrastructure, linking all tourist spots with black topped roads and encouraging the local populace to be tourist friendly.

It maybe mentioned that that the Sienraij Jowai, Seinraij Ialong, Seinraij Shangpung, Seinraij Tuber and the villages of Khonglah, Khaddum, Saipung and Iongpiah took part in displaying their traditional dances as well as participating in the plate dance competition. The famous Noh Sakyriat of Ialong was also specially displayed.

The evening ended with the prize distribution to the winners of the plate dance competition, wherein the first prize was bagged by Iongpiah, the second prize went to Jowai and the third prize to Seinraij Shangpung.

FOUNDATION STONE OF MARNGAR AUDITORIUM LAID

Dr. D. D. Lapang, Chairman of the Meghalaya Economic Development Council laid the foundation stone of the Marngar Auditorium on amidst the present of the local MDC and EM of the KHADC, Mr. C. Syiem, Mr. Birom Syngkli, President of the Nongpoh Block Congress Committee and local residents October 14, 2006.

When completed the 2 storey auditorium will accommodate the need of the Marngar people and also of the surrounding areas. The Land auditorium was donated by Dr. Lapang and the Mr. C. B. Syiem and the work for the same would be initially started with Rs.3 lakhs from the MLA scheme.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Lapang pointed out that a number of development schemes were needed to be implemented for the improvement of infrastructures of different schools, playgrounds, sport facility, community halls and beautification of the Marngar Lake etc. Therefore, he stressed on the importance of working together for the betterment of the area.

The function was enlivened by song and dance performances and a cultural programme.

DISTRIBUTION OF RICE

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that APL Quota of rice has been released and will be distributed through respective Fair Price Shop.

Rice will be distributed at a scale of 1 kgs. per head/ month at a rate of Rs. 8.80/- per kg in the urban areas and price as fixed by vigilance committee in the rural areas in the respective Fair Price Shops.

Any non supply and overcharging of rate by the Fair Price Shop Dealers should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong alongwith the details for necessary action.

The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has declared October 21, 2006 as Dry Day throughout the entire District of East Khasi Hills District on account of Diwali Festival.

All liquor shops/IMFL shops/Bars/Hotels/Clubs/C S Shops/C S Bars/Outstill shall remain close on this day.

ANNAPURNA RICE DISTRIBUTED

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills, has informed all entitlement card holders under Annapurna Scheme that rice will be distributed free of cost at the scale of 10 kgs per card per month through Fair Price Shops.

In Urban Area, rice will be distributed through M/s P. Kharbuli, Mawlai Mawdatbaki for the entire locality of Mawlai, M/s E. Passah, Sunny Hill for Mawprem, Jaiaw and Qualapatty localities, M/s Bela Store, Laban for Laban, Lawsohtun and Lumparing localities, M/s B. Kharsyntiew, Pohkseh for residents of Rynjah, Pohkseh and Umpling, M/s G. Store, Polo for Pynthor, Nongmynsong and Mawpat and M/s Pandit Store, Laitumkhrah for residents of Malki, Nongthymmai and Madanrting.

In Rural Area, rice will be distributed through M/s Sandriana Shangpliang, Mawsynram Pdengshnong for villages under the Mawsynram C & RD Block, M/s Jien Pyngrope, Mawkynrew for villages under the Mawkynrew C & RD Block, M/s Rik Khongthaw, Pynursla for villages under the Pynursla C & RD Block, M/s K.
