EXECUTIVE COURSE ON ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

The first batch of trainees under the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME performance) programme commerced with Executive Course on Electrical Appliances today. The trainees include individuals from both East snd West Jaintia Hills Districts. Over the next 15 days, the first 25 trainees will receive advance training to improve their skill and knowledge in the electrical appliance field at Bosco Pnar Multipurpose Vocational Training Centre, Mihmyntdu, Jowai, focusing on practical skills and innovative techniques.

Fr. Francisco Dhar, Principal, Bosco Pnar in his speech emphasised the importance of utilising the training to not only gain personal benefits but also to help others and be role models. He also urged the trainees to make the most of the training and to share positive ideas.

Shri. Akashdeep Das, SPIU, RAMP in his keynote address said through this RAMP programme the office will be engaging trainees, with various executive courses. The trainees can select the type of course they wish to get enrolled. He said the programme aims to provide advance training to participants from all 12 districts with a focus on boosting technical skills and market readiness. He further added that the executive courses are design to enhance the capabilities of MSME, enabling them to thrive in competition.

Shri. Eborki Pyrbot, Functional Manager, DCIC motivated the participants to stay resilient and not to be disheartened by setback. He emphasised that even if they do not succeed in one trade, the RAMP programme offers many other opportunities to explore. He highlighted the importance of not losing hope and reminded that challange are part of the journey to success.

Pyrbot also urged the trainees to take full advantage of the free training provided under this programme, emphasising that this is a rare opportunity. He motivated them to remain positive, to keep learning and continue striving for success. He assured the trainees that if they have any questions or need assistance, they can always visit the DCIC office.

Shri. P Toi, Chief Executive Officer, MKVIB in his inaugural address said completing the training can open door to a bright future. Toi encourage the participants to choose a trade they are passionate about. He urged them to actively participate in the training and share the knowledge with others to encourage them to take advantage of all the free course offered by the department.

The programme was chaired by Fr. Abialstar Kharsohtun, Administrator Bosco Pnar and Shri. S. Pale, IPO, DCIC, Jowai organised by the Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Meghalaya in collaboration with Bosco Pnar- Multi Purpose Vocational Training Centre, Mihmyntdu, Jowai.

IIM SHILLONG SIGNS MOU WITH SIDBI TO LAUNCH ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING AND INCUBATION PROGRAM

The Indian Institute of Management Shillong, through its IIM Shillong Foundation for Incubation and Enterprise (IIMSFIE), has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). This collaboration marks a significant milestone in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the region.

The MoU signing ceremony, held at IIM Shillong, formalizes the partnership aimed at providing comprehensive entrepreneurship training and incubation support to aspiring entrepreneurs. By leveraging SIDBI's vast network and IIMSFIE's infrastructure and experience, the initiative will create a robust support system to nurture innovative startups and enterprises.

As part of this collaboration, IIMSFIE will introduce the Skill to Enterprise Model (STEM) Programme in partnership with SIDBI. The STEM Programme is designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge, and mentorship needed to transform their innovative ideas into successful businesses.

Prof D.P. Goyal, Director, IIM Shillong, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with SIDBI is a major step forward in our mission to support and incubate entrepreneurship in the North East and beyond. We are excited to launch the STEM Programme, which will empower entrepreneurs and contribute to the economic growth of the region.

Mr Bhanu Prakash Verma, General Manager and In-Charge North East Zone, SIDBI added, we are pleased to join hands with IIM Shillong in fostering a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem. By sharing our expertise in financial and business development, we are confident that this partnership will enable many young entrepreneurs to realize their potential and create sustainable businesses.

The STEM Programme, to be rolled out soon, will offer a blend of practical training, mentorship, and incubation support, ensuring that entrepreneurs have access to the right resources at each stage of their business journey.

Under the STEM program, IIMSFIE will offer an intensive 18-month entrepreneurship training program designed for 30 selected candidates. This comprehensive program combines rigorous classroom teaching, hands-on training, incubation support at IIMSFIE, and personalized mentorship. The focus of the course is on fostering the development of innovative and sustainable enterprises, while also empowering participants to create sustainable livelihoods. Through this program, participants will gain the knowledge, skills, and support needed to build and scale successful businesses, contributing to economic growth and sustainability.
