Press Release No. 561/16 26TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF CAPT. W. A. SANGMA OBSERVED The 26th Death Anniversary of Capt. W. A. Sangma, the first Chief Minister of Meghalaya was observed today at a park situated on the bank of mighty Simsang river and named after him in a befitting manner. Besides soulful hymns and prayers, wreaths and floral tributes were offered on the bust erected in his memory by the Chief Guest Mr. Samuel M. Sangma, local MLA and Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. S. N. Marak and other officials from the district administration. In his brief address, Mr.Sangma recalled the various contributions made by Capt. Sangma in his capacity as Chief Minister for the overall development of the State and for his home constituency of Baghmara in particular. Mr. Samuel Sangma also informed that he would be extending financial help from his MLA scheme from next year to observe the death anniversary of the great leader in more meaningful and colourful manner. |
Press Release No. 562/16 DIGITAL INDIA OUTREACH CAMPAIGN IN WJH DISTRICT In order to create and spread awareness about the Digital India and the services provided, the Government has equipped vans with audio Visuals facilities to inform and educate the citizens in rural areas. The Outreach campaign in West Jaintia Hills scheduled from 24th October to 12th November, 2016 will cover upto 20 villages in the District. The Digital outreach campaign in the District was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Arunkumar Kembhavi on the 24thOctober, 2016 in the presence of P. Mawlong, E-District Manager, Information Technology Department, I. Rymbai, District Informatics Officer, NIC along with the staffs from various departments in front of DC’s Office, Jowai. The Mobile Van under Digital India Outreach Campaign will be travelling to Shanpung, Raliang, Sahsniang, Laskein, Mowkaiaw, Mynso, Nongtalang, Dawki, Sohkha, Muktapur, Ummulong, Moodymmai, Wahiajer, Nartiang, Khliehtyrshi, Mukhla, Mooskhia to spread awareness about Digital India giving information about services by Government, Digital Locker, AADHAR, other Digital Services and MyGov registration. Through MyGov the citizens of India can share their ideas, thoughts, suggestion with the Government in areas related to various policies, programs, scheme etc. Though this campaign, the Government targets to reach more than 1 lakh citizens and more than 1.5 lakhs rural citizens to be registered for MyGov. |
Press Release No. 563/16 ONE DAY DISTRICT LEVEL COMPETITION HELD The District Disaster Management Authority, Ri Bhoi District organized a one day District Level Competition for designing of Logo for the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority today at Science Hall and DRDA Hall, Nongpoh. The Competition has been conducted for students from Class XI to Degree Level of any stream and the top 3 participants will represent the District in the State Level Logo Competition to be held on the 29th October, 2016. 17 students from different Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges of Ri Bhoi District which includes Balawan College, Ri Bhoi College, St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Nongtluh Higher Secondary School, Christian Higher Secondary School and Trinity College took part in the competition. Furthermore, the day competition was selected and awarded with the cash prize to the 3 winners. The First Prize bagged by Shri Lamkordor Kharmyndai of Ri Bhoi College, the Second Prize goes to Shri Elison Maiong of St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School and the Third Prize was bagged by Shri Jestar Ronghi of Ri Bhoi College. The Judges for the competition includes Shri N. War of DCIC, Nongpoh, Shri M.Thabah of Housing and Smti. M. Diengdoh of DIET. |
Press Release No. 564/16 DISTRIBUTION OF ADMIT CARDS The Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi District has informed all the candidates who applied for the post of AB/UB Group that distribution of Admit Cards have started with effect from 24th October, 2016 onwards. Candidates can collect the same from the Police Reserve, Nongpoh on produce of temporary Admit Cards issued to them. |
Press Release No. 567/16 RESTRAINT USAGE OF FIREWORKS Considering the ill effects on the environment due to use of fireworks and other related materials during the occasion of Diwali, the Supreme Court of India, vide its order, has issued advisory to the public to exercise restraint while using fireworks. The apex court has also directed educational institutions to inform and educate the students about the ill effects of fireworks. |
