SIP HELD AT EAST GARO HILLS

Shillong, October 27th, 2011: A one day Special Interactive Programme (SIP) was organized at Government Upper Primary School under Samanda C & RD Block by the District Public Relations Office, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar on 25th October 2011. Mr. B K Hajong, ADC and District Planning Officer, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar graced the occasion as chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Hajong said Special Interactive Programme is being organized to inform the public of various departmental schemes available and also to interact with the people. This is the platform where policies of the government are brought to the doorsteps of the common man where the villagers avail maximum benefit from it.

Looking at the present education scenario in East Garo Hills, the chief guest appealed to the parents to give extra attention especially to teenagers since at this stage proper guidance is necessary to mould them into responsible citizens in future.

“Every human being is talented but without constant practice and hard work no achievement takes place, so is with the government policies and development”, he added.

The inaugural session of the program was followed by an interactive session wherein the villagers interacted with resource persons from various government departments. The villagers expressed some of their grievances in connection with Education and Health department.

As many as 10 departments of the district attended the function as resource persons and enlightened the people with necessary information. The departments present were Project Manager, Assistant Project Managers, DRDA, District Medical & Health Officer, Extension Officer, Samanda, District School Education Officer, Sub-Divisional School Education Officer, EE PHE, EE MeECL, EE PWD Block Mission Coordinator and others.

Apart from these an essay competition and drawing and painting competition for the school students were also conducted during the programme. Earlier in the programme, the District Public Relation Officer, East Garo Hills District, Mr. B Jarain, delivered the welcome address.

DPDC MEETING HELD

Shillong, October 27, 2011: The District Planning and Development Council (DPDC), West Garo Hills, conducted its annual meeting at the conference hall of Tura Circuit House on October 25, 2011 to review the progress of implemented schemes and approve the draft annual plan prepared by concerned Government departments for the year 2012-2013. The meeting also reviewed and approved new proposed schemes by different departments of the district.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Mr. Sanjay Goyal. Mr. Samuel Sangma, Member of Legislative Assembly, Dalu constituency and Mr. Augustine D. Marak, Member of Legislative Assembly, Dadenggre constituency and Officers from different departments of the District also attended the meeting.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT ON LOW COST OVEN
