DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA

Shillong, October 28, 2010: The Deputy Commissioner (Elections), Jaintia Hills District has informed that along with the rest of the country, the Election Commission of India will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee Celebration in the State and with the objective to achieve greater participations in the electoral process in the District, he appealed to all the members of political parties, NGOs, youth clubs and Government Officials to extend their support and cooperate for a meaningful and successful celebration in the whole District. The Deputy Commissioner has also informed that different Sub-Committees have been constituted to oversee the different competitions to be organized including the felicitation of oldest and new voters in the District.

APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR ADMISSION IN SAINIK SCHOOL GOALPARA

Shillong, October 28, 2010: Applications are invited for admission of boys in Class VI and IX in Sainik School Goalpara for the academic session 2011-12. For Class VI, boys should be between 10-11 years as on 1st July, 2011 and passed Class V in a recognized school and for Class IX, boys should be between 13-14 years as on 1st July, 2011 and passed Class VIII from a recognized school.

The cost of the prospectus for general category is Rs. 400/- by hand and Rs. 450/- by post and for SC/ST, the cost is 250/- by hand and Rs. 300/- by post. For Defence (Serving and retired), the cost of prospectus is Rs. 400/- by hand and Rs. 450/- by post. Old question papers are also available on payment of Rs. 100/- for Class VI and Rs. 150/- for Class IX.

Last date of sale of prospectus and receipt of filled in application is 10th December, 2010 and the date of Entrance Examination is 2nd January, 2011.

Application forms and prospectus can also be downloaded from the school website www.goalpara.gov.in and in this case, the application form should be deposited alongwith the applicable amount through Demand Draft. The Draft should be drawn in favour of Principal Sainik School Goalpara payable at SBI Mornai (code 9148). Application forms and prospectus are also available on cash payment at Sainik School Goalpara, Universal Book Depot, Pan Bazar, Guwahati and King of Fashion (near Goalpara College) Goalpara.
