CM YOUTH FOR GREEN CAMPAIGN MOVEMENT LAUNCH IN WJHD

Shillong, 28th October, 2012: Meghalaya Education Minister, Prof. R.C Laloo, on Saturday launched the Chief Minister’s Youth for Green Campaign Movement in West Jaintia Hills Districts, Jowai, organised by the District Administration, West Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya at Jrisalein Playground, Chutwakhu.

Deputy Commissioner, WJH, Jowai, Mr. P.S Dkhar , in his introductory speech said this campaign launch will generate, create awareness and remind us that as citizens we have got responsibilities to keep our localities, surroundings, market place , villages , rivers clean and green. He called upon the public to pass on the message to other villages on the need of cleanliness and keeping our environment green. He also informed that as part of campaign various awareness programmes will be organised like drawing & painting competition, poster campaign, awards for the cleanness locality or village and others to be chalked by the District Committee in order to create a better awareness to the public.

Speaking at the launching of the CM’s Youth for Green Campaign Movement, Prof. Laloo, said that trees and greenery around us makes oxygen that we breathe in, therefore the Green Campaign Movement is launched with a motive to evoke and give us the message on the need of preserving our nature earth and keeping our surroundings clean and green for a healthy living.

Mr. R.N Parein, President, Jaintia Students Union (JSU), Mr. M H Dkhar, President All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO), Mr. K.F Laloo President Synjuk Rangbah Shnong, Jowai also called for the cooperation of the public and to have a sense of responsibility in keeping localities and surroundings clean.

Short Plays and song with a message on keeping our environment clean were presented by different localities.
