Press Release No. 1060/17 TECHNICAL COORDINATION COMMITTEE AND NER POWER COMMITTEE (NERPC) MEETING The North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC) is organizing the 18th Technical Coordination Committee (TCC) Meeting and the 18th North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC) Meeting on 10th and 11th October, 2017 at the State Convention Centre, Shillong under the aegis of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL). The two day meeting, being hosted by Power Department, Government of Meghalaya and Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited, will be attended by the Power Ministers of the seven North Eastern States and top officials from the State Power Departments and utilities, Central Power Utilities, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and other invitees and stake holders in the power sector. The North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC) is a regional forum established by the Central Government to facilitate a stable, smooth, economic, efficient and integrated operation of power system in the North Eastern Region and other functions as mandated by the Electricity Act 2003, CERC and CEA etc. The forum comprised states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura. Apart from the seven NER states, representatives of the central PSUs, namely, POWERGRID, POSOCO, NEEPCO, NTPC, NHPC, OTPC, PTC, NVVN and other stake holders in the power sectors are also constituents of the NERPC. Every year, NERPC organizes at least two meetings, hosted by different constituents. Major issues of power sector, pertaining to NER including commercial and financial matters, are discussed in such meetings and resolutions, if necessary, are also taken for the consideration of the Central Government. During the 18th NERPC meeting, important decision will be taken on issues such as construction of new transmission lines and substations in NER to relive congestions, up-gradation of old transmission lines/sub stations etc., installation of OPGW and associated equipments and approval of reliable communication systems in the region, monitor of ongoing power projects in the region, signing of power purchase agreement, liquidation of outstanding dues of various utilities and all technical, commercial issues, administrative issues etc. |
