WEBSITES OF PLANNING DEPTT AND PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION DEPTT LAUNCHED

Meghalaya Chief Secretary, Mr Ranjan Chatterjee today launched the websites of the Meghalaya Planning Department and the Programme Implementation & Evaluation Department at the NIC conference hall, Shillong in the presence of the Principal Secretary IT, Mr Barkos Warjri, Commissioner & Secretary IT, Mr D P Wahlang, Secretary Planning Deptt, Mr B Dkhar and the SIO, NIC, Mr T Dkhar.

The website of the Planning and Programme Implementation and Evaluation Department contains important information on the Five Year Plans and Annual Plans and also up to date information on important Plan schemes and Programmes like the Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF), Flagship Programmes including Bharat Nirman Programme, NEC schemes, NLCPR schemes, 20 Point Programme, MPLADs and others. The website addresses are http://megplanning.gov.in and http://megpied.gov.in. These websites will provide all the necessary information in respect of the various schemes including guidelines, application forms and also status of applications. It will also provide links to other related websites of the State and the Central Government.

Chief Secretary, Mr Chatterjee in his speech said that the launching of the websites of the two important Departments of the State Government is a step towards empowering the common man. He said the Government is keen to provide the people with all the information relating to developmental schemes and Programmes that are being taken up by the Government which is a step towards greater transparency in the functioning of the Government.

Mr Chatterjee said that the websites will also provide valuable information to interested persons besides scholars, social workers, public representatives and also NGOs.

While congratulating the Departments for the efforts made in this regard, Mr Chatterjee said that the Departments should ensure that the information provided in the websites are updated regularly so as to meet the objectives for which they have been set up. He also urge upon all the other Departments of the State Government to launch their own websites for greater transparency and efficiency of the Government and empowerment of the common man.

Others who spoke on the occasion were the Principal Secretary IT, Mr Barkos Warjri, Secretary Planning Deptt, Mr B Dkhar and the SIO, NIC, Mr T Dkhar.
