Press Release No. 450/09 PRESS RELEASE A delegation of the Creative Co. Ltd. Ecology Recycle Port, Japan today met the Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr. D D Lapang in his office chamber to discuss on the issue relating to Solid Waste Management. The Japanese delegation led by its president Mr. Michihiro Kiyama and Director, Mr. Kikuo Sagawa informed that Japan is willing to help the State Government to recycle the Waste Product in Mawiong, so that it can be use as the renewable energy. He also informed that the solid waste in Shillong is much better than that in any other parts of the country, adding that Meghalaya will be the first State to have this kind of project. He further informed that the waste management can be generated to 10 MW of power supply, but proper assessment is needed for the project. Dr. Lapang informed the foreign delegation that the Government is keen to take up the project as a pilot project. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. B M Lanong and Urban Affairs, Minister, Mr. Paul Lyngdoh. |
