DC FLAGS OFF SWASTH BHARAT YATRA CYCLE RALLY

Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shri P. S. Dkhar today flagged off the Swasth Bharat Yatra cycle rally from Polo Parking Lot, Shillong. The cycle rally is part of the Swasth Bharat Yatra on “Eat Right India”, a PAN India cycle tour. The cyclists will cycle their way through the city till they reach Umiam. The Swasth Bharat Yatra team which reached Shillong on 20th of this month are on their way towards Ri Bhoi District where they will have similar programmes at Nongpoh College and USTM, Kiling and thereafter at Guwahati. The Swasth Bharat Yatra team started their journey from Agartala on 16th October, 2018 and will culminate at New Delhi on 27th January, 2019. It may be mentioned that Swasth Bharat Yatra was initiated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) with an objective to propagate the message to the people on the importance of eating right in order to stay healthy.
