Press Release No. 147/24 INAUGURATION OF THE SHILLONG INTEGRATED COMMAND AND CONTROL CENTRE AT UMSAWLI Honble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K. Sangma, inaugurated the Shillong Integrated Command and Control Centre at Umsawli, New Shillong Township. Dubbed the brain of the citys operations, the center will oversee city surveillance, emergency response, and helpdesk services. Attendees were provided valuable insights into the indepth engineering through a detailed technical presentation during the session. As a platform, the Integrated Command and Control Centre, with its different layers and components, will act as a Decision Support System for city administration to respond to realtime events by consuming data feeds from different sources and processing information from the datasets. This dynamic response to situations, both proactive and reactive, will make city operations SMART. The ICCC is designed as a fully integrated, webenabled solution that provides seamless incidentresponse management, collaboration, and geospatial display. Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Honble Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering, shared a glimpse into the larger vision of the project. He added, The ICCC is a platform, a technology, an area, and a space acting as a connection to different kinds of activities going on in the IT feed, such as the APIs, live data, and other technologies, which will enable us to monitor different activities in the state, providing access to data for decisionmakers to decide on the way forward. The potential is immense, as it is a mechanism and technology that can assist us in making the right and timely decisions. The Honble Chief Minister mentioned the Shillong IT Park, which will generate employment for more than 2000 youths. The ongoing second phase of the IT Park will add close to 3000–4000 seats, generating overall direct and indirect employment for close to 10000 people. He also shared his vision for the Knowledge City, stating that it will include different institutes, centers of excellence, a sports center, and the largest football stadium in the country with a capacity of 40000 spectators. He emphasized a vision to make Shillong the soccer capital of the country. The Integrated Command and Control Centre, with a total investment of INR 226.08 crore, is designed to streamline citylevel responses by establishing standard processes for handling recurring events and emergencies. It will also improve coordination between various departments within urban local bodies and other government agencies to address civic issues and grievances. The ICCC building features a Centralized Monitoring Infrastructure at the Command and Control Centre, including a Command Room with screens and operator systems. It supports Integrated Solid Waste Management with GPS tracking for 50 waste collection trucks and a City Surveillance System with 328 cameras across 70+ locations. Honble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sniawbhalang Dhar highlighted that Shillong has been selected as the 100th city to receive project funding under the Smart City project, with the Integrated Command and Control Centre serving as the brain behind this initiative. The vision for Shillong Smart City is said to focus on creating a livable, clean, green, inclusive, modern, safe, and wellgoverned city. The collective efforts of stakeholders and citizens will be essential in making this vision a reality, he added. Dignitaries in attendance included Honble Chief Minister Shri Conrad K.
