Press Release No. 453/22 RI MULIANG C AND RD BLOCK INAUGURATED The fourth C and RD Block in West Khasi Hills District name as Ri Muliang C and RD Block was today formally inaugurated by Shri Kimfa S Marbaniang MLA Rambrai Jyrngam Constituency in presence of the MDC Shri Bajop Pyngrope, Joint Director C and RD Block Shri JE Massar, officials of the District West Khasi Hills, the Sordar, Headmen, the local inmates who witnessed the inaugural function held at Nonglang Playground. Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest Shri Kimfa S Marbaniang while appreciating the kind gesture of the Government to understand the plight of the people for their hardship to travel to Mawshynrut for any official purposes and with an intention to bring developmental schemes to the people a new C and RD Block came into being at Nonglang, to cater to the needs and requirements of around 71 villages of the area. He added that it’s going to be a memorable to have the Block office within their reach and this will benefit people to procure the facilities of the Government to uplift the economic conditions of the people and thus improve their life style. He called upon the newly appointed BDO to sincerely dedicate himself for the wellbeing of the general public and urged upon the masses to closely work with the Government and extend their helping hands to help the Block office to flourish in the near future. Besides the inauguration of the new Ri Muliang C and RD Block Chief Minister’s programme under FOCUS and FOCUS PLUS, YESSS, NRLM CIF, Rabi Seeds and Bio Chemical Fertilizers took place, distribution of cheuqe to SHGs, Cooperative Societies, piggeries and chickens to all the beneficiaries. |
Press Release No. 454/22 CABINET MEETING ON MUKROH INCIDENT Meghalaya Cabinet met today to discuss in detail the incident that happened this morning in Mukroh, West Jaiñtia Hills District and a report was presented by officials. Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui visited the incident spot and shared his report from ground zero. Based on the Cabinet Meeting, following were the decisions made 1. On the 24th of this month a Cabinet Delegation will meet the Union Home Minister to officially apprise him about the firing incident in Mukroh and demand for an investigation to be made through a Central Agency either NIA or CBI 2. As a sign of respect to those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident today, all Government official programs will be suspended till the 30th of November 2022. 3. To show solidarity with the people who have lost their lives and the families affected, all Festivals in any part of the Meghalaya will be cancelled. 4. In our visit to Delhi we will meet the National Human Rights Commission and we will submit our report to the NHRC as well. 5. An SIT will be constituted to investigate into the case as the FIR is lodged and the DIG of the Eastern Range will be heading it. While we appeal to Government of India for a Central Agency to take over the investigation, the SIT will start conducting the investigation. When the appeal is approved by Government of India, the investigation will be handed to them. 6. A Judicial Commission under the Commissions of Enquiry Act 1952 will be constituted to look into all the aspects of the incident. On November 23, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and a few Cabinet Ministers will travel to Mukroh village to visit the bereaved families and handover the ex gratia to the families. The OC of Zirikinding Police Station who was involved in the incident has been suspended, the Forest Range Protection Officer in charge of the area and who was a part of the incident has been suspended, the SP of West Karbi Anglong has been transferred. The Govt. of Assam will be taking necessary steps to investigate into the matter in consultation with the Government of Meghalaya, the Chief Minister said during the Press Conference quoting Assam Chief Minister, with whom Meghalaya Chief Minister had telephonic conversation. The Assam Government has also assured that whatever demands Government of Meghalaya puts forward to Government of India, Government of Assam will cooperate to ensure justice is served and those who are guilty are punished, the Chief Minister further informed. |
