Press Release No. 148/24 MOCK EXERCISE ON EARTHQUAKE CONDUCTED IN DC OFFICE, SOUTH WEST KHASI HILLS DISTRICT, MAWKYRWAT As part of the National Disaster Management Authority, NDMA Level earthquake Mock Exercise, the Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority, DDMA and the 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force, NDRF from Guwahati, conducted an earthquake mock drill on 22nd November 2024, at the Deputy Commissioner Office in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills District. During the mock exercise, the Incident Response Team was activated by the Incident Command, led by Shri. L.T. Tariang, MCS, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District and CEO of DDMA, South West Khasi Hills District. The entire drill followed the directives of the Incident Command, with all sections of the 1st Battalion NDRF Incident Command Post led by Lal Ringsan, INSP, the Operations Section Chief, Logistics Section Chief, Planning Section Chief, Staging Area, Medical Aid Post, Offsite Control Room, and Relief Camp Manager are activated. The mock exercise was conducted exclusively at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District, involving 12 injured individuals, including two women and one children. The drill encompassed the evacuation, search and rescue operations, first aid treatment, triage, and transportation of injured persons via ambulances to the Medical Camp and Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital. In the mock exercise, saw active participation from various line departments, including district officers and staff, the police, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Fire and Emergency Services, the Health Department, and the NDRF team from Guwahati. After the mock exercise, a debriefing session was held in the Additional Deputy Commissioner Room at the DC Office in Mawkyrwat by Shri. L.T. Tariang, MCS in the present of Dr. E.S. Langshiang, District Disaster Management Officer of South West Khasi Hills District. |
