SECTION 144 CRPC

For the conduct of free and fair election to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council Bye-Election 2016, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has issued an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting all Contesting Candidates or their agent or the Political parties from wall writing, pasting posters, papers or defacement in any form or erecting of cutouts, hoardings, banners in public property or public premises however for putting of banners, pasting of posters in private property or private wall a written permission from the house owner and approval from the office of the District Magistrate is required. No political parties or candidates will be allowed to put up banners on roads or thoroughfares. No Election meetings would be allowed without taking permission from the office of the Returning Officer, District Council Election, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai and subsequently local headman regarding the venue of the meeting. No P.A. System will be allowed to be used between 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM and in case P.A System or loud speakers are used without permission from the Returning Officer, West Jaintia Hills the same will be seize immediately by the local authorities and no rallies and procession will be allowed without the permission from the Returning Officer. This order will extend throughout the 1-War East District Council Constituency and will come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till Election process is over. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting person or group of persons from carrying cash above Rs. 50,000 (Rupees fifty thousand) only in the 1-War East, District Council Constituency . The order has been issued in view of the information received that some people are likely to carry large amount of hard cash to bribe the voters for casting their vote in favour of a particular candidate and that such action, if allowed, would affect the conduct of free and fair by-poll to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, 2016 and is likely to cause frustration, quarrel and fight between members of the public leading to law and order problem, breach of peace and tranquility. This order will come into force with immediate effect and remain till election process is over.

NOTICE

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Jaintia Hills District has informed the general public that all the current F. P. Dealers and S. K. Oil Retailers of East Jaintia Hills District will end on the 30-12-2016. Interested applicants or Societies of East Jaintia Hills District who are willing to apply for F. P. Dealers and S. K. Oil Retailers for the year 2017 can submit their application in the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply),Khliehriat. Forms are available in the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat during office hours. Other enclosure in the application includes Court fee stamp – Rs. 25/-, Extracted Resolution of the Dorbar Shnong, List of Members of the Vigilance Committee, Photo copy of EPIC, Bank Account No., Two recent Passport Size photograph and Mobile Phone No. All the Dorbar Shnong or Local Club are requested to be vigil in recommending the application to avoid from disruptive distribution of essential commodities or S. K. Oil. The Waheh Shnong or Secretary Shnong should be aware that the applicant is having a good godown and also financially sound. Last date to submit the application is on the 15th December, 2016. An application which does not follow according to the above terms will be rejected.
