NIGHT CURFEW PROMULGATED IN EAST KHASI HILLS

In view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19 in the state and in order to put in place preventive and mitigation measures so the pandemic of COVID-19 is contained, reduced and eliminated in East Khasi Hills District and Meghalaya, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued on 30th November, 2020 under Section 144 CrPC read together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 has extended the night curfew in East Khasi Hills District with effect from 1st December, 2020 upto 6th December, 2020 only for timings falling between 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM each day. The order will not apply to medical teams and officials on COVID-19 duty, police, security and armed forces, Civil Defence and Home Guard volunteers, wholesale and retail pharmacies, Fire and Emergency service, MeECL, NEEPCO and Power Grid, FCI vehicles, officers and staff of corona care centres, press, print and electronic, Information and Public Relations Department, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd, Shillong Municipal Board and Telecom service. These services shall strictly comply with all protocols and procedures including social distancing, limiting of field staff to the barest minimum and other advisories of Government in the Health and Family Welfare Department, without fail.

Movement of vehicles carrying essential goods, security forces, medical equipments and shops for repair of trucks on highways are also exempted. However, drivers and attendants of the vehicles shall be subject to medical screening as per laid down protocols. Curfew passes for timings falling between 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM with effect from 1st December, 2020 upto 6th December, 2020 can be obtained via online application at eastkhasihills.gov.in

CHIEF MINISTER INAUGURATES FIRST RURAL PRIME HUB AT SONGSAK

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma today inaugurated the first rural PRIME Hub at Songsak in East Garo Hills in presence of Advisor to Chief Minister, Shri Thomas A Sangma, Govt Chief Whip, Shri Marcuise Marak, Siju – Rongara MLA, Shri Rakkam Sangma and Rongjeng MLA, Shri Jim Sangma.

Inaugurating the PRIME Hub at Fables Spark Hills, a skill training organization managed by Bakdil, a missionary social organization, Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma said that PRIME Hub is an initiative of the government to ensure skill based learning to the youth of the State. He informed that in the next few years 50 such PRIME Hubs will be launched across the State that would cater to the needs of skill based education.

The objective of Promotion and Incubation of Market Driven Enterprise or PRIME is to make entrepreneurship a preferred career choice for the youth of the State through creation of a dynamic and collaborative ecosystem that enables easy availability of credit, relevant technology, skilling and mentoring support and access to high leverage markets.

Lauding the efforts of Bakdil for empowering SHGs and creating livelihood opportunities in over 2500 villages of Garo Hills, the Chief Minister expressed that a collaborative approach with social organization and government will go a long way in enhancing the livelihood and income generating activities for the people. He expressed confidence that PRIME Hub under the able leadership of Fr. Sunny Mavelil will cater to the local youth of Garo Hills in skilling them and ensuring them access to different job opportunities.

Informing that 25 lakh people in Meghalaya is below the age of 20 years, the Chief Minister said, “It is a challenge for the government to create educational facilities, skilling institutes linked to job opportunities, however, we have prioritise this sector and PRIME Hub is one such initiative of the government to enable our youth to access to different income generating opportunities.” He also said that through PRIME Hub, the government will accord thrust on promoting entrepreneurship and act as a facilitator to ensure that different activities are linked to opportunities as access to market and credit facilities are provided for setting up of enterprises.
