DISTRICT HOLIDAY IN SOUTH WEST KHASI HILLS

Shillong, November 19, 2012: All state Government Offices including all Revenue and Magisterial Court and Educational Institutions under South West Khasi Hills District will remain close on the 30th November 2012 on account of “U Sngap Syiem Day”. FRESH NOMINEES FOR PDS IN MAIRANG

Shillong, November 19, 2012: Applications are invited for fresh appointment of Govt. Nominees and Wholesalers in PDS under Mairang Civil Sub-Division, West Khasi hills for the year 2013 at the wholesale centres of Mairang, Nongthliew, Nongkhlaw and Kynshi.

The prescribed application forms and detailed information are available from the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Supply) Mairang, West Khasi Hills. Application duly filled in should be submitted to the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Mairang on or before 22nd November 2012.

QUAMI EKTA WEEK OBSERVED

Shillong, November 19, 2012: Quami Ekta Week and administering of National Integration Pledge was observed at the Main Secretariat Building, Shillong on 19th November 2012. The Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma administered the National Integration Pledge.

Meghalaya Chief Secretary, W M S Pariat gave a short introductory speech where he highlighted the background of the National Integration Week that is going to be observed by organising various programmes throughout the week long programme.

Before administering the pledge Dr Mukul Sangma spoke about the social aspect of governance. He mentioned that the adopted programmes and policies made by the government to serve the people must generate a sense of belonging to the nation. Each group and ones individual rights must be acknowledged and respected, he stated. Unity and integrity can be strengthened and achieved only when we come together, said Dr Sangma.

All the officers and staff were present to reaffirm and rededicate the integrity of the nation.

APPLICATION INVITED UNDER CM YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SCHEME

Shillong, November 19, 2012: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District invites application from interested Colleges/Schools/VAs/NGOs of the District (group consisting of youth between the age group of 15-25 years) for undertaking youth related activities and programmes under the Chief Minister Youth Development Scheme 2011-12. Application forms are available from the office of the District Planning Officer, East Khasi Hills District in Room No. 311. The last date of submission of application is December 7, 2012.

APPOINTMENT OF AA AND PIO

Shillong, November 19, 2012: The Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Programme Implementation & Evaluation Department has informed the general public that the Appellate Authority and Public Information Officer under Right to Information Act, 2005 has been notified with immediate effect.

Under the Department of Programme Implementation & Evaluation, the Departmental Appellate Authority is the Joint Secretary of the Department with Deputy Secretary of the Department as the Public Information Officer. Under the Directorate of Programme Implementation & Evaluation, the Director is the Appellate Authority and the Joint Director as the Public Information Officer. Under the State Development Reforms Commission, the Joint Secretary is the Departmental Appellate Authority and the Member Secretary as the Public Information Officer.

APL, BPL, AAY RICE RELEASED

Shillong, November 19, 2012: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), West Garo Hills, Tura has informed that APL, BPL and AAY rice has been released to the Family Identity Card holders and APL households in rural areas under Tura Sardar Sub-Division for the month of October 2012 through their respective Fair Price Shop dealers. The scale of issue per Family Identity Card or beneficiary is, APL rice 16 kgs, BPL rice 35 kgs and AAY rice 35 kgs.

SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION OFFICE BUILDING FOUNDATION STONE LAID

Shillong, November 19, 2012: The Minister of Soil & Water Conservation, Prof. R.C Laloo unveiled and laid the foundation stone of the new office building for Cash Crop and Territorial, Soil & Water conservation, Jowai on 16th November 2012, at the present campus of the office to be constructed at the estimated cost of Rs. 4, 04, 18,500/- (Rupees Four Crore four lakhs eighteen thousand five hundred) only to be completed in three years time.

At the laying ceremony, Prof. R.C Laloo appraised the hard work and commitment of the Officers and staffs of the Department and hopes that with the coming up of the new building it will further boost the spirit of dedication and commitment of the staff in a more better way. He said, the presence of the department is known to the public through the work of the department therefore a spirit of dedication should be continued.

Prof. R.C Laloo also inaugurated the Mihmyntdu Water Harvest Structure constructed by Soil & Water Conservation under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) at Mihmyntdu Village.

B. Warjri, Additional Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, said the Greenery of the surrounding of the Soil & Water Conservation office sets example to the public on the need of having an eco friendly surrounding, he hopes that this spirit continues with the good examples and works implemented by the department for the development of the public.

The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, P.S Dkhar hopes that the new office will improve the work culture and efficiency of staff.

SPECIAL INTERACTIVE PROGRAM ORGANIZED AT SIBBARI

Shillong, November 19, 2012: The District Public Relations Office, South Garo Hills, Baghmara, organized the day-long Special Interactive Program at Sibbari Deficit Secondary School on 16th November 2012. Officials from different departments interacted with the people of the area on various schemes and programmes of the government.

It may be mentioned that such interactive programs are being organized by the department of Information & Public Relations in various parts of the State in an effort to bridge the gap between the government and the people, particularly the rural masses. The program is aimed at informing the people about government schemes that are implemented through various departments and motivating them to participate in the developmental activities.

A senior citizen of Sibbari, Mr. Robinson B. Marak, while participating on the occasion as the chief guest, urged the people to take the opportunity to learn from the visiting officers how they could avail various schemes of the government to uplift themselves. He also urged the parents and elders to strive to give good quality education to their children so that they would be able to create decent livelihood, build better homes and better society.

Earlier, the Assistant Director, Information & Public Relations, Tura, Mr. F. K. Marak, who also holds charge of the office of the District Public Relations Officer, Baghmara, welcomed the gathering and highlighted on the objectives of the program as well as the activities of the department.

Later, during the interactive session, Agriculture Development Officer, Baghmara, Mr. B. R. Sangma, Functional Manager, DCIC, Baghmara, Mr. J.T. Sangma, AH & Veterinary Officer, Baghmara, Dr. T. R. Marak and Medical Officer, Sibbari PHC, Dr. Dipankar Paul highlighted and deliberated on the schemes available with their respective departments, while Journalist, I&PR, Tura, Ms. Mary C.K. Marak highlighted on the salient features of the Right to Information Act, 2005.

Among others who also spoke on the occasion included Mr. A R Sen, Headmaster, Sibbari Secondary School, Ms. Sadina Sangma, Public Relations Officer, Tura and Ms. Senrita M. Marak, Journalist, Baghmara.
