FOUNDATION DAY OF THE BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES CELEBRATED AT RAJ BHAVAN.

Shillong 6th November, 2014: The Governor of Meghalaya, Dr. K. K. Paul, who is also the Patron of the Bharat Scouts and Guides and the Chief Guest on the occasion of the 64th“Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts and Guides” gave away the Rajya Puraskar certificate Awards to 65 Guides, 43 Scouts and two Teachers (Guide captains) in a solemn ceremony which was held today at Raj Bhavan, Shillong and in the presence of the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, Shri P.B.O. Warjri, Principal Secretary of Education, Shri P.K. Srivastava, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Shri M.S. Rao and other higher dignitaries.

The programme was followed by the inauguration of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag by the Governor of Meghalaya, Dr. K. K. Paul.

While blessing the gathering on this grandeur celebration, Dr. K.K. Paul conveyed his heartiest greetings to all the members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. He stated that the organization has to be dynamic and move with the times in order to meet the expectations of the society as well as to ensure that people are willing to accept their suggestions in appositive manner. He also reminded and expects students to follow the basic principle towards preservation of the environment and conservation of energy, road safety and sanitation campaigns. He emphasized upon the importance of consciousness in performing their duties with a hope that this will instil in their outlook the real essence which is expected of each and every Girl Guide and Boy Scout.

Speaking as the new President, Shri P.B.O. Warjri expressed his pleasure in accepting the post as President of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. He spoke about the core values and the real essence that is expected of every Girl Guide and Boy Scout while performing their duties and services towards the society and the nation. He emphasized upon the need of maintenance of behaviour and discipline and the need to equip ourselves, to work hard and to have the ability to work for the good of others and the nation “To do our duties for others is a battle” he added. He further stated that in serving others we can truly find the meaning of service, unless we learn to serve others we cannot be leaders, we cannot serve the society and above all God.

Shri P.B.O. Warjri, Chief Secretary of Meghalaya was inducted as the new President of Bharat Scouts and Guides whereas Shri P.K. Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Education and Shri M.S. Rao, Principal Secretary to the Governor as Vice Presidents of Bharat Scouts and Guides.

Earlier, Shri F.R. Kharkongor, Secretary of Education delivered the welcome address while Mrs. A. Swer, State Secretary of the Bharat Scouts and Guides offered the vote of thanks. The highlights of the day included group dance and songs presented by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Shillong.
