Press Release No. 495/09 VISIT OF JYOTSANA SURI TO SHILLONG Chairperson of FICCI Tourism Committee and Chairperson and Managing Director of Lalit Group of Hotels, Ms. Jyotsana Suri will be arriving in Shillong for a day long visit tomorrow on the invitation of Dr D D Lapang, Chief Minister of Meghalaya. She will arrive by her private jet at Umroi Airport and during her stay in Shillong Ms Suri will participate in the 2nd meeting of the State Task Force on Tourism and development and will also visit Cherrapunjee, Golf Course and other tourist attractions in the city. “I have requested Ms Suri who owns many five star deluxe hotel properties in the country to visit Meghalaya and consider locations for investments in hospitality and tourism training academy purposes besides addressing the Task Force on Tourism with her experiences and best practices to be followed in the Tourism sector”, said Dr Lapang. Lalit Group of Hotels consists of about 30 five star luxury hotels which include The Grand Palace, Srinagar, Lalit Intercontinental, Mumbai, The Lalit, New Delhi, Great Eastern Hotel, Kolkata, The Grand Lalit, Bangalore etc. The Group has International presence with The Lalit Grand Fort, Dubai, a hotel being developed with Nakheel, the world’s largest privately held real estate developer and just a new hotel in Thailand, The Lalit Grand Resort & Spa Koh Samui. A multifaceted personality, Jyotsna Suri is known for her huge patronage of art in India - be it performing or visual. In fact it is to her credit that the Art Junction art gallery is operated - which promotes the cause of the young, upcoming and deserving artists. Further, her work day does not conclude till she has enquired about the various initiatives and charities, that she is involved with.
