DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF PA TOGAN SANGMA OBSERVED

The Death Anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma, a great patriot from Garo Hills who fought against the British more than a century ago, was observed on December 12,2005 at Sisobibra near Williamnagar, East Garo Hills. To mark the occasion, a commemorative function was held on the day at Sisobibra which was attended by a large number of people from Williamnagar and its adjoining areas. The function was also attended by government officials, teachers, Nokmas and other social organizations

Speeches were delivered on the patriot by different speakers which included Mr.A.Ch.Marak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills, Mr.P.R.Marak, EAC, Williamnagar, Mr.M.D.Sangma, President of Togan Memorial Association and members of various NGOs

The highlights of the day included various cultural programmes and paying of floral tribute to the statue of Pa Togan by dignitaries present on the occasion
