PASSING OUT PARADE HELD AT NEPA, UMIAM

Shillong, 14th December 2011: The Dikshant Parade or the Passing out Parade of the 37th Batch of the basic course trainee officers of the North Eastern Police Academy was observed today the 14th December, 2011 at the Academy Parade Ground, Umsaw, Umiam, Meghalaya. Shri B. M. Lanong, Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya graced the occasion as Chief Guest besides many high ranking dignitaries. The batch consist of 32 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 56 Sub Inspectors and 8 Assistants Sub Inspectors of Police from the North Eastern States of Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking in the occasion, Shri. B. M. Lanong congratulated the new officers on their success and achievement and call upon them to be an idle citizen by extending their help, assistance and guidance to the society.

TWO-DAY HEALTH MELA HELD AT RANGBLANG

Shillong, 14th December 2011: Shri R. Lyngdoh, Deputy Chief Minister i/c Health and Family Welfare, Government of Meghalaya inaugurated the two day Health Mela 2011 held at St. Mary’s School, Rangblang village today the 14th December, 2011. The function was organized by the National Rural Health Mission in collaboration with the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, Nongstoin.

Addressing the gathering, Shri R. Lyngdoh stated that the State Government through the NRHM organized such Health Melas to create health awareness among the people and offer free medical service besides providing medicines. He further stated that the Government is trying hard to strengthen the health care services in the State by organizing such Health camps and Health Melas in rural areas. He further urge upon the people to extend their cooperation with the government for the smooth implementation of various developmental scheme.

A huge number of people including women and children visited the Health Mela to avail free services for their ailments related to Medicine, Dentistry, Homeopathy, ENT, and many more. The awareness stall distributed pamphlets which provided awareness to the people on the ways to protect them from various ailments, diseases and family planning.

EARLE HOLIDAY HOME GUEST HOUSE ANNEXE INAUGURATES.

Shillong, December 14, 2011: Meghalaya, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Bindo M Lanong, inaugurates Earle Holiday Home Guest House Annexe at Oakland Road Shillong on December 14, 2011.

In his brief speech Mr. Lanong lauded the Trustee members of Earle Holiday Home for their efforts and self dedication to establish this guest house. The Minister i/c Mining also said that the guest house being situated in the heart of the city should be able to provide proper services and. He also urged the local people to make a good use and to maintain the surrounding environment for the benefit of the people.

WORKSHOP ON AQAUCULTURE HELD

A joint workshop on “Strengthening of Fishery Co-operatives under Aquaculture Mission” was organized by the Meghalaya Fisheries and Co-operative Department at Hotel Polo Towers, Shillong today. The inaugural function was attended by the Minister for Co-operative, C & R D Department, Mr. Saleng Sangma in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. P B O Warjri, Commissioner & Secretary, Planning Department, Mr. R M Mishra, Commissioner & Secretary, Fisheries, Mr. K N Kumar, senior government officials from both the Departments, members from various multi purpose Co-operative Societies and fish farmers.

The main aim of the workshop is to inculcate upon the participants and the members of the Multi purpose Co-operative Societies about the Aquaculture Mission of the Government and at the same time to provide opportunities to the people especially in the rural areas to be self sufficient.

Speaking at the inaugural function as the chief guest, Mr. Sangma stressed on the need for the people to extend their cooperation with the government so that the intention of the government in improving the economy of the rural areas is achieved. He said that the Government is making serious efforts to ensure that opportunities in the rural areas are made more attractive. He also expresses confidence that fish farming will generate income for various multipurpose co-operative societies.

Mr. Saleng Sangma said that participation of the community is essential for even growth of the state in all aspects. He stressed on the need of the community to actively participate as partners with the government in its endeavor to promote the rural economy and make it more attractive to the people.

Others who spoke on the occasion include Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. P B O Warjri, and Commissioner & Secretary, Planning Department, Mr. R M Mishra. The inaugural function was chaired by the Commissioner & Secretary, Fisheries, Mr. K N Kumar while the vote of thanks was offered by the Secretary, Cooperation Department, Mrs. L Diengdoh.
