Press Release No. 838/05 WE SHOULD PRAY FOR OUR STATE - NONGRUM ‘We should pray for our state and for everyone involved in reining the state towards progress and development’ urged Meghalaya Minister for Health and Information & Public Relations, Mr.Sayeedullah Nongrum while addressing the inaugural function of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Nongspung Catholic Church held today at Nongspung. Mr.Nongrum also urged the people to discard the feeling of religious indifference remembering God in every occasion of our life and to embrace the spirit of brotherhood ensuring peace in the society. He lauded the service of the Church towards the society as he referred to the Mary Fatima Convent, a Sub Health Centre, a dispensary and a vocational training centre run by the sisters of the Catholic Church in Nongspung. He was pleased to know that the Health Centre has rendered its service to 7815 patients from the village and its adjoining areas Speaking on the occasion as the Guest of Honour, Mr. J.A. Lyngdoh, Parliamentary Secretary who is also the local MLA urged the people to maintain the spirit of forgiveness and unity. He called upon the people to work in close cooperation with one another in order to bring peace and development. He said that just as religion teaches the principle of forgiveness and love, he therefore called upon the people to adhere to such principles which would then bring peace in the society and peace in turn would bring development The function was presided over by Fr. Press Release No. 839/05 CHRISTMAS ADVANCE CELEBRATION HELD A Christmas Advance celebration was today held at the office chamber of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Lower Lachumiere, Shillong, wherein the officers and staff participated with great enthusiasm. Chaired by Mr. R Nongkhlaw, PRO, the short programme was marked with prayers and caroling. The Christmas message was delivered by Mrs. M. Syiem, UDA The occasion was also held to celebrate Meghalaya pavilion being awarded with the gold medal for Best Display in the North East category at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2005 held recently at the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi The Director of Information & Public Relations, Mr. A. Mawlong while wishing the officers and staff of the Directorate a merry Christmas and prosperous New Year, stressed that Christmas Festival should be celebrated in a peaceful and joyous manner. He also congratulated them for having brought laurels to the state through their dedication and hardwork which was manifested by winning the prestigious award at the IITF 2005 |
