Press Release No. 483/09 PRESS RELEASE Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr D D Lapang today laid the foundation stone of the Integrated Solid waste Management Project and the Housing for Urban Poor under Integrated Housing and Slum Development Project at Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District in the presence of the Urban Affairs Minister, Mr Paul Lyngdoh and others. The programme was organised by the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA). It may be mentioned that the an amount of Rs 10 Crores has been sanctioned by the central government for the implementation of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Project at Nongpoh and Rs. 6 Crores for Housing for Urban Poor under the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Project for Nongpoh area. Under the Housing project, Nongpoh will be getting 240 housing units, each of the Housing unit is estimated at Rs. 1.66 Lacs. 10 p.c. of the cost is to be borne by the beneficiary. Dr Lapang in his speech said that all efforts should be made by the implementing agencies to ensure that the genuine poor are benefited. He urge upon the Nongpoh Town Committee and the District Administration to see that the households which deserve the assistance are benefited. He said that the list of BPL families in Ri Bhoi District would be finalized by the end of the year 2009. |
