Press Release No. 460/22 FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR CONSTRUCTION OF INTEGRATED BLOCK COMPLEX Community and Rural Development Minister Hamletson Dohling laid a foundation stone for construction of Integrated Block Complex, a new office building of Amlarem C and RD today 2nd December at Amlarem in the presence of Shri. Lahkmen Rymbui, Minister of Education, Home (Police). Speaking on the occasion, C and RD Minister conveyed his appreciation for the efforts and dedicated service rendered by the officers and staff of the Amlarem Block and for proper implementation of the various state and central government schemes which have benefited the people of the area. He stated that the Government has sanctioned 2.77 crore for the construction of the office which will commence soon. He further mentioned that the up gradation of the office building will tremendously improve the working atmosphere facilitating a better service to the people especially of those in the outskirts village. He informed that under the Amlarem Community and Rural Development Block there are 71 Village organizations and 590 Self Help Groups. The SHGs have contributed and transformed the community of the area. Shri. Lahkmen Rymbui, Minister of Education, Home (Police), Director of C and RD Department Shri. Press Release No. 461/22 INAUGURATION OF PHC MARMAIN AT MARMAIN VILLAGE Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K.Sangma inaugurated the new PHC at Marmain village today the 2nd December in the august presence of local legislator Shri Mayralborn Syiem MLA of Nongpoh, Shri Balajied Ranee MDC of Nongpoh, Smti. Macdalyne S.Mawlong, MDC of Umsning, Shri M.B Tongper, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Dr. D.Blah Addl DMHO and other invitees. The inaugural function was also attended by the village traditional heads, elders and local populace at large. Speaking on the occasion, Conrad K. Sangma expressed his immensely pleasure to associate himself with the people of that area, he thanked to the local residents of Marmain and its adjoining area for their participating to witness the inauguration of the long awaited PHC since the foundation stone for its construction was laid in 2006. He said that within four and half year as the government has been able to complete a large number of long pending projects which were initiated by multiple governments and could not completed for multiple reasons these includes, PHCs, Crowborough Hotel, etc but this present government strongly felt that the investment made in different projects should not go to waste, hence efforts have been taken up by the government and expressed satisfaction over the fact that all these long pending projects could finally realized. Furthermore, said that this present government was committed to ensure better health services to the people of the region and the state as a whole, the pandemic has posed a challenge for the government but with collective efforts it was working has able to create a better healthcare facilities. Moreover, the Chief Minister said that the Umden to Sonapur road is an important life line for the people of the area, he informed that this road project has been included in the World Bank project of Phase II and also Nongpoh Umden road, these projects has been delayed due to Covid pandemic but he assured that these projects will be taken up soon at the earliest. He also said that the government has been working hard towards ensuring that different Blocks and Administrative Unit to be come out in different part of the state so that people are able to get the service that they deserved. Lastly, he assured the residents of Marmain and its adjoining areas that this government will provide all support relating to manpower, equipments and accommodation for staff to enable the PHC function with fully capacity. |
Press Release No. 462/22 MEDAL WINNERS AND COACHES OF THE 2ND NORTH EAST OLYMPIC GAMES FELICITATED Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma today felicitated the 188 medal winners and 54 coaches of the 2nd North East Olympic Games, NEOG 2022 and also launched the Sports Scholarship Scheme at a programme held today at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong organised by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated and thanked all the athletes who secured medals at the recently concluded 2nd NEOG and said that the felicitation programme is the celebration of the achievements of the athletes who had brought laurels not just to their family but to the state as a whole. He also lauded the coaches and the sports association’s members for their hard work, dedication and assistance to the athletes. While stressing that youth is the state greater strength with a population of 12 lakh in the age group of 12 to 30 years, it is the duty of the government to channelize the energy of the youth in various capacities so as to deter them from using their energy in destructive manners, he said. He also highlighted the various youth friendly programmes initiated by the government such as Meghalaya Grassroots Music Programme, Aspire Programme and others. He also stressed on the need for the state to invest in sports infrastructure and build international standard arenas in order to push the athletes to greater heights. While informing that the refurbished J N Sports Indoor Stadium and P A Sangma Indoor Stadium will come up soon, he hoped that the athletes will be getting better platforms and opportunities to bring more laurels to the state and country in national and international competitions. The Chief Minister during the programme also launched the Sports Scholarship Scheme wherein a monthly scholarship will be given to athletes who secure a medal at regional or national competitions, apart from the onetime cash award, the idea of this scheme is to support the athletes and to invest in their different sporting needs. The NEOG athletes will be the first beneficiaries of this scheme. The programme was also attended by Dr Vijay Kumar D, Commissioner and Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, Shri S Awasthi, Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Shri John F Kharshiing, Working President, MSOA among others. |
