Press Release No. 764/18 LAYING OF FOUNDATION STONE FOR ORCHIDARIUM AND ORCHID PRODUCTION UNIT Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K. Sangma and Urban Affairs Minister, Shri Hamletson Dohling today laid a foundation stone for Orchidarium and Orchid Production Unit respectively here at IBSD, 6thMile, Upper Shillong. Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, the Chief Minister said that the Orchidarium and the Orchid Production Unit will have a huge impact on the lives of local entrepreneurs and will be viable and a profitable business. Stating that tourists all over the world have a connection with orchids, the Chief Minister said that it will be a game changer for the tourism sector. Meghalaya, being a diverse State, there is a need to explore other business potentials, he added. Around 800 species of orchids are available in the State, yet we tend to import from other countries, he said. It is a challenge and we need to realize that there is a need to create a bigger and sustainable eco-system and for that it is pertinent to coordinate with entrepreneurs and have a seamless connectivity with the rest of India and the world. The Chief Minister in his words of encouragement to the students, who were present at the programme, urged them to have a purpose driven life. Whatever you do, it should be driven by purpose and passion, he said. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Meghalaya, Shri Y. S. Shullai, Director, IBSD, Prof. Dinabandhu Sahoo and Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Prof. S. K. Srivastava was also present at the programme. |
Press Release No. 765/18 WEILYNGKUT NONGUR PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE INAUGURATED Weilyngkut - Nongur Primary Health Centre, Nongur Sohiong Lyngdohship was inaugurated today by Shri A. L. Hek, Minister of Health and Family Welfare in the present of Shri Samlin Malngiang, Minister of PHE, Shri Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Chairman, MIDC, Dr. T. S. Nongkhlaw, DHS (MI), Dr. M. R. Basaiawmoit, DMHO, East Khasi Hills, Sordars, Secretary and villager of Weilyngkut areas. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Hek said the government is committed to provide affordable, accessible and quality health care services to all sections of the people especially in rural areas. He also informed that this Primary Health Centre will extend basic healthcare services, maternity care, besides carrying out vaccination and immunization programme and epidemic control activities to 24 surrounding villages. Reiterating the government’s commitment for providing health care facilities to the citizens of the State, Shri Hek said that the Government signed the contract with Reliance General Insurance Co Ltd for the implementation of the fourth phase of Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) in convergence with Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, a Central Government Health Scheme. Registration for the fourth phase of the MHIS will start in 2019, he added.
