Press Release No. 215/23 HEALTH MINISTER INAUGURATES MAWKHYRWANG HEALTH AND WELLNESS SUB CENTRE The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday the 7th of December, 2023 inaugurated the Mawkhyrwang Sub Centre- Health and Wellness Centre at Mawkhyrwang Village, South West Khasi Hills District in the presence of Shri. Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, MLA Mawkyrwat Constituency. Speaking at the inauguration function, Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh expressed her gratitude to the MLA Mawkyrwat, Shri. Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, and all contributors for making the establishment of the sub-centre a reality for the people of the village and its adjoining areas. She requested the village leaders to communicate the challenges and hardships encountered by the area's residents to the government, aiming for a comprehensive resolution of these issues through government's utmost efforts. The health minister highlighted that the Sub-Centre will significantly benefit women and their children by offering facilities for deliveries, newborn care, and enhancing the overall healthcare system. She encouraged the HANS Foundation to deliver best services and called upon all healthcare personnel Mid-Level Health Providers (MLHPs), Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (AMNs), and the staff nurse to work diligently, providing excellent healthcare and educating villagers on hygiene, cleanliness, and health maintenance. Assuring government support for furniture, equipment for efficient functioning, the minister envisioned the sub-centre as a hub for providing proper healthcare services through diverse health programs. She also informed that the process of implementation of drone technology will be used for medicine delivery to this Sub-centre. Concluding her speech, the minister reiterated the government's commitment to fostering development for the people of the state. Shri. Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, MLA Mawkyrwat constituency expressed concern about the lack of road connectivity to Mawkhyrwang village and its nearby areas. He underscored the crucial need for this connectivity, emphasizing that building roads is essential to enable easier travel for residents and improve transportation in the region. Highlighting upon the difficulties posed by the hilly terrain and land acquisition hurdles for road construction, he urged the people, particularly landowners, to collaborate with the government by offering their land for this purpose. Stressing the significance of roads as the foundation of progress and development, he emphasized that this cooperation would significantly benefit the people by fostering developmental initiatives within the village. He expressed optimism that, with the collaboration of the local populace, the Government would be capable of implementing crucial developmental schemes for the betterment of the community in the area. It may be mentioned that the Sub- Centre was built at a cost of Rs. 25,00,000 (Twenty five Lakh) under the National Health Mission (NHM). The newly inaugurated Sub- Centre will be equipped for conducting deliveries at the sub-centre level. The Sub- Centre also has a labour room, maternity ward, a dedicated newborn care room, OPD room and Immunization room. |
