Press Release No. 825/04 CM INAUGURATES JOWAI WOODLAND MEDICAL CENTRE Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr D D Lapang today inaugurated the Woodland Medical Centre at Ladthadlaboh, Jowai which is an extension of Woodland Hospital Shillong. Health Minister, Mr Sayeedulah Nongrum, Parliamentary Secretary Mr Shitlang Pale, local MLA, Mr S Mulieh, MLA Mr Draison Kharshiing, CEM Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Mr M Pariat and ex-MP Mr O L Nongtdu were present. Dr W Kharshiing, Managing Director, Woodland hospital, shillong, chaired the meeting. In his inaugural speech, Dr Lapang informed that the State government is giving top priority to the health sector in the State and he hope that the setting up of Woodland hospital at Jowai will enhance the health facilities in the State. He lauded the Woodland Hospital authorities especially Dr Kharshiing for his determination and confidence to set up the hospital at Jowai, as a gesture to cater to the health needs of the people. He said that the hospital would benefit the people of Jaintia Hills District, as it is equipped with advanced medical equipments for diagnosis of diseases and ailments. He hope that such medical institutions would also be set up in other parts of the State to provide health care to the people. Health Minister, Mr Sayeedulah Nongrum in his speech urge the hospital authorities to serve the people on humanitarian ground and that it should cater also to the health needs of the underprivileged people. Dr W Kharshiing, Managing Director Woodland Hospital made a presentation on the facilities and equipments available in the Hospital. He informed that the hospital is equipped with an Ultra Sound Machine, X-Ray, CT Scan, Color Doppler and pathological investigation laboratory. He also informed that the hospital would also be linked through the Internet with the main Woodland hospital at Shillong for sending the tests and getting the results digitally back where patients can collect their reports for Jowai itself. He also informed that the expenditure incurred in setting up the hospital is Rs 1.30 Crores. Earlier today, Dr Lapang met the public representatives of Khliehriat Sub Division, which includes MLAs and MDCs who called on him at the Jowai Circuit House and submitted a memorandum to him regarding upgradation of the Khliehriat Civil Sub-Division to a District. On the matter, Dr Lapang informed the representatives that the Government would examine the issue from all aspects. |
Press Release No. 826/04 CM MEETS JAINTIA HILLS DISTRICT OFFICERS “District Officers should have the responsibility in performing their duties as expected as they are the mirror to the Government’s activities, goals and achievements” said the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr D D Lapang today while addressing the meeting with the District Officers of Jaintia Hills in the Jowai Circuit House, Jowai. In his address to the officers, Dr Lapang urge the officers to work sincerely with dedication and to ensure that the people of the district gets maximum benefit. He said that the District Coordination Committee should be held regularly as it is the best forum for sorting out problems amicably among the departments and to get better coordination for achieving the goals of development. He also urges the officers to utilize Plan funds allocated to their offices efficiently and seriously and not to spend only during the month of March as this hampers the financial position of the State as a whole. He then calls on the Officers of the District to apprise him of their problems and grievances and suggestions for improvement on which he assured all possible support. Dr Lapang was assisted by Principal Secretary, Mr W M S Pariat, Commissioner of Divisions Khasi, Jaintia and Ri Bhoi, Mr P Kharkongor, Commissioner & Secretary, Mr P K Srivastava and the Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills District, Mrs L Kharkongor. Later, Dr Lapang met the members of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council along with the CEM, Mr M Pariat at the Circuit House Jowai. |
