Press Release No. 820/05 SEMINAR ON BIRD FLU HELD With an aim to create awareness on “Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza- Bird Flu” (H5N1) and keeping in view Diary Cattle Management in the hilly tracks of Meghalaya, a Seminar was organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary (A H & Vety), Meghalaya, Shillong in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for North East Region, Umiam, at the KJP Assembly Conference Hall, I G P, Shillong on December 9, 2005. The Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, A H & Veterinary Department, Mr. W M S Pariat graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest. Dr. K M Bujarburuah chaired the Seminar, which was well attended by doctors of both the Health and Veterinary Department Speaking at the inaugural function, Mr. Pariat lauded the organizers for their initiatives in organizing this kind of Seminar in the right time to create awareness about the H5N1. Press Release No. 825/05 TWO SCHOOL BUILDING INUAGURATED AT UMSHAKEN The Meghalaya Deputy Speaker, Mr. P W Muktieh inaugurated the two new school buildings of the Government L P School and the Seibor English School at Umshaken Village, Ri Bhoi District on December 8, 2005 In his speech as the chief guest, Mr. Muktieh expressed his happiness over the overall development activities of the area.
