BUSINESS DIVERSIFICATION CONCLAVE HELD

Shillong, December 7, 2012: “Business Diversification Conclave 2012” for contractors and entrepreneurs was held at Hotel Pegasus Crown, Shillong on 7th December 2012 organized by the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship (MIE) under the aegis of the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA).

Mr. W M S Pariat, Meghalaya Chief Secretary and Chairman, MBDA, while deliberating his speech said that people are now aware of the state’s flagship programme under the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme which promotes optimal and effective development and utilization of river basin resources for ensuring livelihood security and inclusive growth, within the framework of sustainable development. This mission mode programme looks towards successful entrepreneurs by providing marketing and quality management which will generate and spread knowledge on organized and efficient marketing, he asserted.

Mr. Pariat also mentioned that when ideas are shared with each other it can develop better idea which can be implemented with necessary traits to become a successful entrepreneur. He further informed that the institution will help the stakeholders to achieve their dreams by tapping the immense available potential for economic growth. He then called upon all the stakeholders for partnering with the government and looks forward to a state much advanced in economic development in the years to come.

Mr. R M Mishra, Principal Secretary MIE, said that business is interdependent and it can progress by triggering participatory knowledge and knowledge management. Moreover, he asserted that making an effort being an entrepreneur is not easy since risk taking arises which ultimately decides the success and failure of an entrepreneur.

The programme aims to explore the emerging Agro-Business opportunities in Meghalaya in partnering with established entrepreneurs and contractors of the state said Mr. Vijay Kumar, Deputy Director General MIE. Eminent personalities in the field of Agro Entrepreneurship would be participating in this conclave and sharing their expertise on the subject, said Mr Kumar. He also stated that this conclave will redefine the relationship with the government and the citizens.

The day long deliberations will include Micro Enterprise Opportunities in Meghalaya and Overview of the IBDLP and Horti-Business in Meghalaya which will be delivered by the expertise in these fields.

Earlier in the programme the chief guest and other dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp during the inaugural function.
